Various Degrees of MS

What are some of the various degrees of morning sickness? I am 6 weeks, 3 days and I have little symptoms (tired all the time, frequent bathroom breaks). However, the last two mornings into afternoons, I don't feel like eating much or anything at all. I had a slight gag reflex on the way to work. I feel hungry but not really wanting anything, until about 12 or 1pm. This morning I felt a little dizzy for a little bit.

It is so different for every woman, with every pregnancy, too. I pretty much only had food aversions with my first pregnancy, which basically meant that the thought of most food made me nauseous all day long, and sometimes I didn't feel like eating at all. Comfort food and junk were about all I could handle.
This time I also had food aversions but occasional "real" nausea. I sincerely expected to find out I was having twins at my confirmatory appointment because it was about twice as bad as the first time. Nope, just one baby, but then a week or so after that appointment I got a 24-hour stomach bug and puked like crazy. After that I was pretty much fine. I still had certain aversions, but the thought of those foods didn't nauseate me - I just didn't want them. So I ate normally except for avoiding those foods. Even now at 37+ weeks I still am not that fond of those foods that nauseated me previously.
Both times I never threw up from morning sickness, and I might have a gag reflex while brushing my teeth or smelling a food I had an aversion to.
A lot of people tell me I got off easy, and by what some people say they experience, I think I did. You're probably in the same boat, so consider yourself lucky! Absence or presence of morning sickness says nothing about whether or not it is a healthy pregnancy. I have a healthy 2-year-old son, and when I saw my OB last Thursday she told me that my pregnancy was an "easy" one compared to her other patients. Granted I had some issues with a friable cervix that caused harmless (but scary) bleeding and led to my being on pelvic rest, but other than that, everything has gone swimmingly so far
Even though you may not feel like eating, try to force yourself to at least eat little bits here and there. Nuts are great for quick calories if you don't feel like eating much. Also be sure to still drink water, since staying hydrated is important, especially in the first trimester.
Best wishes to you!!!0 -
I had morning sickness mildly at about 5 weeks... just some when I got hungry mostly. By 6 weeks it was in full effect and unless I was eating, I was puking. It was terrible. If I had ANY hunger, I was gagging. I had crackers next to my bed that I would eat before even sitting up. I had stocked up on 2 liters of gingerale... it was miserable. I am just over 11 weeks now and I am happy to report that my m/s has all but subsided... maybe twice in the last week have I gotten nauseated. Hope your morning sickness stays at bay! Good luck to you!!0

I would feel fine 6 days out of the week and completely miserable the 7th. I only vomited maybe 4-5 times total, the rest of my sick days I had the worst migraines of my life. Hopefully you stay feeling relatively well!0

This is such a good question! I've spent the last several weeks "not feeling pregnant" since all I hear about is morning sickness, and I am not experiencing it (for which, by the way, I am thankful)! I'll be 10 weeks in a couple days, and I haven't thrown up at all. If I'm hungry I feel a little "off" but that's about it. It has seriously gotten to the point where I don't even want to read any of my pregnancy books, since they are all peppered with "How to deal with extreme nausea" chapters!
I hope, for your sake, you don't get it bad. I surveyed my friends and very few really had it. So if you don't have it bad, don't worry but revel in it instead!
My symptoms so far are extra huge boobs and feeling fatigued. I recently went from 12 hrs of sleep most nights to 9-10, so the fatigue seems to be wearing down a little for now.0 -
You might be getting the dizzy feeling if you're not eating enough in the morning. Try to eat something if at all possible.0

Like others have said all pregnancies are different! My first one I threw up 12-15+ times a day and lost a ton of weight until like 36 weeks. (Stopped throwing up around 34-35 weeks.) This one I was scared at first because all I ever had was severe nausea and no vomiting - and I could keep food down! There were even foods I could eat to keep the nausea away! (Granted for me it ended up being plain pringles, but over my last pregnancy, it was SO much better!) And then around 10 weeks it went away. MS isn't a must so don't worry!
As for dizziness, that could be not drinking enough or not eating enough - I know I can no longer workout fasted like I used to because now I'll get dizzy. Might be worth mentioning to your doc.0 -
As everyone else has said it really is variable - some people are actually sick, I just feel sick all of the time when I am not eating! It is much worse when I am tired so I am taking it as easy as possible but not always easy!
With regard to the dizzyness I get this too - your blood pressure can lower a bit in the first trimester, before starting to raise again and particularly in the morning this can leave you feeling a bit dizzy. carrying my daughter down the stairs in the morning is a bit hairy so we usually have to sit down and bump one step at a time! My blood pressure is usually on the low side of normal, but at my booking appointment was 95/50 which is really verging on low but it feels to me like it's on the way up already.
You just have to work out what works for you and try not to worry if you do or don't have the symptoms as it really varies so much0
