What types of yoga don't have sun salutations?

Hello,

I was wondering what types of yoga don't include a lot of sun salutations and downward facing dog positions?

For the time being, I am looking for a yoga class that involves mostly light stretching and relaxation, as I get enough strength training in other classes, and due to the way I am build, I have always found sun salutations -- especially the downward facing dog positions -- difficult and stressful to hold.

Thank you.

I think your best bet is yin yoga. I've never done it, but my understanding is that it is mostly stretching and relaxation. Also, anything that says "gentle" or "restorative" would be appropriate. I wouldn't count it as part of a calorie burn though.

btw, I don't think this group is very active, so you might not get that many replies.

Thanks. I am not looking to burn a lot of calories doing yoga. I just want to use it to stretch the soreness and tension out of my muscles from doing strength training and cardo workouts.

When I do a yoga class that includes a lot of downward facing dog poses, planks, etc, I often come away from it with more tension and soreness than when I came in.
