I've been playing a game on Steam (also available on gog.com for those who don't like Steam) called Don't Starve, an overhead survival game kind of in the vein of Minecraft, but with a vastly different visual style, along with separate hunger/health/and sanity meters that you have to maintain while you explore the world, craft new items, and fight the encroaching darkness. They're constantly adding new content right now as well, I've been playing it off and on since early beta, it just got it's "official" release a few weeks ago tho. The next update in a day or two will add caves and some other things. The more days you last, the more characters you unlock to play as. Currently, my record is 27 days, but I haven't played as much as some.
Highly recommended if you enjoy games like Minecraft, or even if you don't. This is done by the same guys who did the Shank and Mark of Ninja games, so the art style is kind of recognizable, although not completely so.

Ditto, this game is amazingly fun and addictive. Myself and a few friends downloaded and played this 'at the same time' (they dont support multiplayer yet). It was incredibly hilarious hearing them over skype freak out when their characters were about to kick the bucket - lol.0

Love this game! I think the longest I got to was 80.
I ended up killing myself just after the third winter. Had just been attacked by two Keepers of the forest, then a spider queen entered my camp so I ran and it turned to night so I was camping in the nearby field with a bunch of red butt Beefalo. Just when i was trying to think what to do with this ruddy spider queen, as my fire staff had been in a chest, suddenly the ground started to shake. Couldn't believe it, Deerclops! Ran with my torch until sunrise avoiding the angry beefalo and slowly made my way to camp. Deerclops was destroying all my walls and my shadow manipulator. At least he had killed the spider queen but had to get him to chase me and away from my camp. Got back felt deflated and tried to clear up the mess. Then the hounds decided to attack..... Just managed to survive with the aid of my meat effigies but burned everything with my fire staff. Tried to start over but all my farms were gone, my poop machines were gone, my grass, berry bushes and twigs had turned to ash. managed to survive for another 10 days, but I gave up and ran into the night lol0
