Would there be anyone interested in doing the Kokoda trek in 2013?

Also to train up to this before hand with a group of people interested.

    I would be very interested.

    I can't train with you as I'm in Adelaide, but I'm training for the trailblazer so I should be fine. (http://www.trailblazer.org.au/)

    Hey Haylz_me and MyNewZen glad to see your posts!

    @Haylz_me - I'm thinking for a trip around Mid next year,specifically 2 July - 10 July 2013, Ower's Corner to Kokoda.

    "Open Trek. PNG Guided. This trek will commence at Ower's Corner on the 2nd July 2013 and will finish when you walk out in Kokoda on the 9th July 2013 where you will overnight at 'Orohaven Kokoda Retreat' as our guests. The following day 10th July you will be flown to Port Moresby. Trek 885: "

    If the date is an issue we could probably join a different trek group or start our own, as you can do that with this trek
    company. (http://www.kokodatrail.com.au)

    The company does a few different trek packages depending on what you want to focus the trek around, be it speed, historic trek, or adventure. I choosing the Kokoda Package 2: Kokoda Adventure Package which is 9 days / 8 nights, this link breaks down the schedule more clearly; http://www.kokodatrail.com.au/kokodapackage2.html

    Cost: $2,700 per treker, and an additional $580 if you hire a personal porter to help with your pack. Also inclues Liability Insurance ($20M) Also the Return flights around $500 if you book early enough, though still need to enquire with the company if they include this in the cost above.

    So it is a pretty expensive adventure but given that it is a year away, and it is a pretty epic thing to do in your life, I think it would be an amazing experience and accomplisment.

    @MyNewZen - Just checked out that Trailblazer, that looks pretty awesome I'm looking into it and its only 60 days away, If I think I'm fit enough by then I think I might do it looks very interesting. As well as it would be awesome to do in terms of preparation for Kokoda. Also which one are you entering for, 18km 34km, 50km or 100km? (gulp)
