I have a torn meniscus which requires surgery. I got a cortisone shot and it felt a lot better .I started insanity on 7-27-2012 and after 3 days of it my knee is starting to get a bit soar. I love insanity and do not want to give it up. Any one else out there ever face this dilemma ??

I have bad knees and believe I probably tore my meniscus a few days ago. I've already had 2 surgeries on this knee, so I'm not anxious to go back to the doc because I know what he'll say and I'm just not wanting another surgery on this knee. Anyway, for the last few days, I have been wrapping my knee with an Ace bandage. It seems to help while working out. I also ice and elevate it after every workout.
I do all of the high impact stuff in Insanity on a mini trampoline. It has saved my knees from more damage, I think. I'll just hop on to jog or do the power jumps or jumping jacks, and then move down to the floor for planks or push ups or whatever. You might want to look into getting a mini trampoline (rebounder). They say it takes like 80% of the impact out of the exercise. I highly recommend them. You can get a cheap one at some place like Walmart or you can spend a lot more. I have a medium priced one that is great. It has bungee cords instead of metal springs, so the bounce is very gentle. It's called the Fitness trampoline from a company called Jump Sport. Hope this helps! Good luck!0 -
Bite the bullet and get the surgery. If you're not getting paid millions to perform athletically, you do not need to be rolling the dice by taking the needle to mask pain. You're setting yourself up for the risk of decreased mobility and chronic pain down the road. It's a short-sighted decision. The goal should be getting in shape and staying fit for your whole life. I wouldn't wish bad knees on anyone. Press the pause button, get the procedure done and Shaun T will be waiting for you after you're done rehabbing.0
