Hey Cysters!
I'm new to this group and was recently diagnosed with PCOS, although I've had my suspicions for a few years. I'm very serious about my health and want this weight off of my body once and for all more than ANYTHING in the world. However, I do feel very discouraged when I get on the scale after eating well and exercising like a maniac and seeing no change or a gain on the scale...
So, my question to you all is what changes to your diet and exercise regimen have been the most beneficial as far as weight loss is concerned? I know we're all different, but I want all of the knowledge and wisdom I can get!
Thanks in advance and feel free to add me for support :-)

Hello and welcome!
I've found a low glycemic diet with balanced good carbs (whole grains/fruits/veggies) and protein to be really successful. I also try to keep my blood sugar regular throughout the day by eating 6 small meals throughout the day rather than three bigger ones. That way I eat a balance of protein and carbs about every 2-3 hours so I'm never starving.0 -

I'm really interested in trying to integrate more low glycemic foods into my diet. Can you post an example of a typical meal day? I'd like to see how far off I am.
Have been struggling with this weight for a while now and would love to try this.
Thanks!0 -
Thanks for the responses! I do try to eat throughout the day and normally stay on the lower end of the glycemic index. I think I need to be more diligent with it, though.0

the only diet that ever gave me results was eating like a diabetic (which is a low glycemic diet). I exercised rigorously for a year and ate very healthy and lost nothing but when I ate low carb high protein the weight always came off even if I wasn't exercising.0

I am losing weight but very very slowly compared to many others on the website. I think it is because of my PCOS. I lost about 18 pounds in 7 months, 14 of which were after joining MFP 5 months back.
Major changes I have made in my diet since I decided to lose weight are to get rid of simple carbs (like white rice), eat more of complex carbs and increased my protein and fiber consumption.0
