Not Sure I Should Keep Going?

Hi, just did my first Burn Circuit yesterday. I didn't realize that the weights they are using are HUGE!!! I only have 3, 5, and 10 lb weights and I realized they were way too light for me. I don't like bands so that's not an option. I might be able to get a 15 or 20 lb weight from my BF but he has only one (don't ask me why). I can't afford the selectable weight dumbells but if Walmart or Target have a 25 lb, I might be able to swing for one on Friday. Should I keep going?
Here's the other thing...I FEEL SO FAT DOING THIS! I'm over 40% body fat (sad, yes) and I can keep up with them (except for pushups...ugh). I don't know, I feel like I should be doing more cardio to burn off this flubber before I start lifting like this. I know it's so good to lift, but is that true even if you're pretty fat like me???? I am supplementing with more cardio...I don't know...

Don't be so hard on yourself! Changes don't happen on the first day other than you saying "I am committing to this!" And the same on day 2, 6, 8, 40, etc!
But changes YOU start to notice when you begin heading into the Push phase.
I got some weights at Target for $70. They are ProForm and came in a set. Most weights (I'm sure your boyfriend will attest to this) come in singles and are flippin' expensive!! SelecTechs are a brand name and quite expensive. Same with PowerBlocks. Her weights look big but she will tell you the weight she is using. The 25 and the 15 look almost exactly the same.
I did Burn with bands and switched to weights in Push. That was much better for me.
I don't think any of us were able to keep up with pushups at first. TBH I still can't. I do as many on my toes as I can then switch to knees. You are the only person who knows! You are the person who can start with 3 and then at the end do 7. that is OK! that's a huge improvement!!
the 10 will probably get you thru the Burn month. Save up and look for sales on Craigslist or Amazon for weights.
We're cheering you on!!

I just started so I really can't give you advice per say. I do agree with everything Pip said and those were wonderful words of encouragement! I just wanted to come out here and say that I too think you are being way too hard on yourself and good for you for looking to improve your health!! Take it one day at a time and stay positive! It took us a long time to get out of shape it will take a while to get back in it! Good luck to you, can't wait to watch your progress!!
Oh one thing I will say that I have noticed on the videos, she tells you how to make it feel like you have heavier weights even if you don't.0 -
Doing ChaLEAN helped my metabolism, so yes, it's definitely worth doing. I didn't finish it, but just the burn and push months were amazing for my self esteem and my energy levels. I don't understand all the science behind it, but I feel a lot more stable now that I have at least a little muscle.
If you're losing weight to be healthy, and you want to keep it off, lifting is amazing.0 -

I hear you! I am also over 40% bf and can't do a knee push up! I am doing wall push ups at the moment.
I purchased 25lb adjustable weights from walmart, Gold's Gym. They are working well.
I would keep going. I am in week 3 of Burn and I am happy that I am sticking to it. I plan on doing the entire 90 days. It has given me a boost in energy, that is for sure.
Friend me if you like, we can cheer each other on!

Sent you a FR -- we're the same age too! :-)
I did not have any soreness yesterday morning but by yesterday afternoon, I was sore in the exact places she was working!! Imagine that? LOL It was supposed to be a rest day but I did the first Hip Hop Abs for some cardio. I'm going to keep going!!!! Tonight is Burn Circuit 2 and I am going to take Friday as a rest day. (I need to modify the schedule a bit but I'll get all the workouts in).
Thank you so much for the encouragement everyone!!!!0 -
I took off Saturdays, especially during the summer with my son having Swim Meets on those days. I would just pick up the next workout on Sunday.
I have some photos posted of my success with this program in another thread.
you can do this!

Im not saying you should stop though the weights might be an issue esp if you feel that what you have is already too light as in Push you def lift heavier.
Maybe try craigslist for a used set?
Its also totally possibly to do this with extra weight though I did do a bunch of cardio stuff prior to starting CLX. I actually waited til I was around weight I wanted to be & I'm using it for toning. I can only speak for myself but its def. more gratifying when you can see the toning thats happening0
