Good recommendations for audio books??

So, the thing I dislike about working out is the boredom. The treadmill or elliptical feels so monotonous after a while. I love to listen to music, but after a bit I tune it out and feel bored again. My solution to this is to try listening to an audio book while I'm exercising. I love, love, love to read, so I feel like this is something that could keep me occupied during my workout. Also, I think if I only allow myself to listen while I workout, it will motivate me to get to the gym so I can continue my book! Has anyone tried this? How did it work out?
My main question is: Do any of you have good recommendations for audio books? I would like for it to be something fairly light and entertaining so that it will keep my interest. I'll save my heavy reading for at home with real books.
Thanks-
Kassi

When I was younger, my mom had Atlas Shrugged on casette tape and it was just always pleasant to listen to, even though I could hardly understand some of the big words
Oh! And if you know anything about the Jaycee Dugard case (the girl who was kidnapped and missing for 18 years), she has a memoir that is on audiobook that she reads herself. It's a very uplifting book.
I also like getting audiobook sets that are like short story compilations. They are very entertaining. I have a mystery one, a scary story one, and I even have Roald Dahl's entire book collection on audiobook for the child inside
I haven't tried it working out, but I do use it when I'm walking my dog or something (I guess that counts as working out, huh?) But I think it relaxes me and it gets my mind off the task at hand! I might try it next time I'm at the gym!0 -
Thanks for the input! I downloaded Perks of Being a Wallflower, so I am trying to listen to that as I work out. It's not bad so far, it keeps my mind occupied so I'm not obsessed with how much longer I have to exercise.
Also, I love Roald Dahl!0 -
I drive a lot for work so I listen to books pretty often. My most recent favorites have been Bossypants read by Tina Fey and A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson. Both have made me look a little nuts as I am cackling like a hyena in public. Worth it though.0
