Hiya,

I find shopping for a new sports bra is hell and I was wondering what is everyone’s favourite?

I am top heavy and I dread the day I need to go looking for a new bra, can any other top heavy women recommend a good and very supportive sports bra? At the moment I have a Berlei Electrify.

Thanks x

I have tried many.... And I have scars to prove it... Yes, seriouesly, I have scars from bad underwire and unsupportive bras!

The best I have ever tried - and the only one I will wear now (I have 5!) are by Triumph, Triaction Seamfree. They come in sizes 10, 12 etc (not cup sizes). They are classes as High level of activity and can be Racerback or standard. Oh and they are made from moisture wicking fabric too. I used to be DD (now just a C/D) and run and do aerobics and find these perfect for both.

I buy mine from Rebel sport - $39.95. I wont buy anything else now - they are that good!

I've found Berlei the best range for cup sizes & support. Regardless of what sport I'm doing I wear their high impact one. Unfortunately they don't do my real bra size (8FF) so its not the best for me (eg. I prefer to wear a different one but in warrior dash i wore berlei to throw out afterwards). There's a shop in Brisbane I go to that stocks sports bras in my size. I do believe you have to spend the money on bras so I don't mind the fact they are $100-$150 each. I do not want saggy boobs when I'm older!!!

i found that with Berlei too, i have tried on a few different brands but i always feel they dont stop bouncing as much as i would like. Im happy to spend the money on a good sports bra. Saggy boobs would be the worst!

YES! I have scars from bras rubbing so much they made me bleed. I used to go running with bandaid extreme (you know, the super sticky ones!) stuck under, then the bra on top - just to stop the friction burns. I was very big chested!! I stopped having to do it immediately with the Triumph and wont go back! But yeah, my scars are pretty grose, but I am sure in time they will disappear.

Give them a go though - and good luck finding the perfect bra! I have heard that Stephanie's in Kingston stock a good sports range - if you dont mind spending the extra money.

Has anyone tried the Sportbras from Target? I have always splurged on the good Berlei ones, but I am wondering if the Target ones might be ok. I have had heaps of normal bras from Target that have lasted really well, been comfortable and well fitting. Even just for days that I know I won't be doing much bouncing, like powerlifting/olyimpic lifting... Any experiences?

I can't usually buy from places like Target, unless I want a grandma bra!

I just bought a double pack of level 3 sports bras from Bras 'n' things. $75 for the two and they come in black and purple

So far I'm finding them quite good, they're not too restrictive, but enough so I don't jiggle all over the shop... well not the boobs anyways

Berlei or Triumph sports bras dont go up to my size and I'm pretty sure Target's official policies are that big-boobed girls don't exist let alone exercise.

I recently bought a: NWT A172 High Control Level 4 Wirefree Racerback Sport Bra Black . Google or you can find it on ebay or "braonsale.com"

I paid under $17 and it's the first bra ever that has allowed me to run without doing myself too much damage. I'm over the moon.

My girls aren't too big though. I wear a 12-14C, so pretty much average :)

    Hi Ladies,
I have the same problem being a 12F. I always wear 2; an underwire sports bra and a racer back crop.

Have a look at this topic http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/375333-large-breast-and-sport-bra
the most popular bras seem to be the Enell and shock absorbers, which I haven't found in Aus but there are several links to British websites, which might be on option if you can't find what you need here (the Brits apparently do better sizes than the Americans).

I got both of mine from Kmart. A Triumph 'TriAction' and a Hestia, both in a 16DD, at about $29 and $19 respectively. 20 kilos ago the Hestia one fitted better overall, but it has padding (like t-shirt bras) with two hooks and wider straps. Nowdays the Triumph one fits better - better cup stretchiness - this has three hooks and regular straps. Both have that doohickey to make them racer back style.

When I start shopping for new ones (fun) I'll look at the Triumph first.

I'm an 18G/20F and I had been using the Champion's sport bras. There are few different types just have a search on ebay. Remember to put in your US size ie I'm 40 or 42. Some, like the powersleak, go up to F cups and I was just wearing them over a cheaper wired sports bra, as a crop top, and the babies were fully supported haha

Have taken note of the name. Thanks for that info. May I suggest rubbing rosehip oil on your scars I have had great success with it.

I go to Brava in Melbourne, as they stock D size and up - my last bra was a 16FF, I can't believe how big my boobs have got. I'm currently wearing the Energize by Elomi - never heard of the brand before I went to Brava, but I'm very happy with it. Also, I can't recommend getting a proper fitting enough - makes a world of difference when you wear the right size! Brava have great staff working there and so many nice bras!!

This is the one I've got: http://www.bravalingerie.com.au/lingerieitem/elomi-energize-bra-white_item.html?ref_cat_id=45

I have two sports bras from Target (same bra, two different colours) in 16DD and they are the best sports bras I've ever had. Granted, I've never shelled out for some better quality brand ones, so can't compare, but these so far have been great for me. I use them for running, boxercise, 30 Day Shred, any exercise.

I get my bras from http://www.bravissimo.com on the internet. Heaps cheaper than in Australia and if it doesn't fit or whatever you can send it back for either refund or exchange. They specialise in bigger cup sizes.

My 2 favourite most supportive ones ive got from them are:
    Panache Sports Bra
    Freya Active
