Geez WTF is up with these sites? It's pretty pathetic that I just had to add this to my POF profile -
(It's pretty sad that I have to add this but well, I guess I do. DO NOT message me with sexual offers/requests. I am not a prude but I am a lady, have some respect. This is a dating site where I am looking to meet a guy and see where it goes from there. There are other sites if you're just looking for NSA fun. I will NOT respond to those messages. Thank you! )
Lately I've been getting the oddest messages and it's aggravating, Some may find it flattering, I find it insulting. Like I am better than that. Yeah I know, what do I expect from a free dating site but c'mon, I've been on and off of them for some time now and NEVER had as much rudeness as I've had recently.
I was hoping to maybe meet some different people but I am on the verge of deleting my profile all together. Ugh!!!! Sorry, just had to vent :mad:

Yeah, I've been getting a lot of those too. I have been considering deleting my profile from OKC for the same reason. Just *kitten* responding with vile things. :sick:0

I do understand what you're saying, but to Nerple's point, they're not likely reading your message anyway. People that do that are sending out 100 messages and if even 1 works, they got what they wanted!! So it's not personal... they send them out to a LOT of people!
I felt more frustration with men who complain about no response from women yet didn't respond to me either, haha... far more annoying, imo....0 -

I did an experiment once with response rates. For a while, I sent the same message to every woman vs. personalizing messages. Response rates were pretty much the same. But the message I sent to everyone was not R or X rated.
In the marketing world, certain techniques are used that have low response rates (direct mail for example) but because they are consistent in the low rates, it is easy to plan those campaigns. That is just like sending the same message to 100 women.

I understand i got a big rear but i havent been able to "attract" anything real on those sites.

I think we've discussed and debated a lot on here how women under 30 that are average looking or above probably do have full inboxes since all men will email them. The rest of us go through the same frustrations as all those guys. I messaged 100 men and never heard a word back from any of them. Don't get me wrong, I got plenty of other messages (on POF, zip on Match), but the quality wasn't there....
I think there are too many factors to say that there is a specific experiences. Based on your area, your age, your looks, etc....we all experience something different!
I do actually agree with DM that the message itself doesn't matter. If someone finds you reasonably attractive (to them), they'll respond.0 -
The worse I ever got were compliments about my legs or my curves. I never got anything x rated- thank goodness!

not me. i've had my profile up for a bit now. i have been messaged by maybe 6 people altogether in that time. one guy just stopped talking to me. one guy deleted his profile after his last message to me. one guy was married and looking for a friend. one guy, i'm pretty sure was drunk when he sent his 2nd and 3rd messages, because i could not read them. they made NO sense. and then the other two i have no interest in.
i messaged one guy first, who mentioned something about friends........ he never responded.

Exactly. As a man who has actually read a few profiles, I get a little turned off when I read a profile with too many of those types of rules. I understand where they're coming from, but I can't help but feel like I'm being lectured or yelled at while I'm reading them, while the guys that do this probably don't read them anyway. I understand where they're coming from, but I can't help but feel like I'm being lectured or yelled at while I'm reading them, while the guys that do this probably don't read them anyway. I've found that having anything frustrated/negative like that actually does one a disservice. For the first part, the people that are sending you the sex messages aren't actually looking at your profile. The second part is that the people who are reading your profile are getting a negative vibe which may actually turn them off to you, or send the wrong message. I completely reworked my profile when I realized I was coming across as angry and jaded when in reality I'm a goofy adventurer.0
