When is enough enough?

I need your opinions. I have absolutely no idea where to set my goal weight. BMI says I should be under 205 to be not overweight, but I'm not so sure. My avatar pic is me at 240lbs. I think at 200 would look too emaciated. I know BMI isn't everything, but... I'm curious what you all think, especially those who have already reached their goal. was it within BMI? Was it more or less than you thought? When you reached it, did you revise down again?

Thoughts.

My ideal weight according to things is 140 to 185 as I am slight boned I am aiming for 150 but will be okay when I get to 185. But I will still have a little belly bulge. At this point is to tone up. Many of people think that they are okay at over weight as they have never seen them selves as anything else and then re- evaluate on how they are doing. I would like to get percentage of fat down to a healthy level as well. but will be following up with a dietitian who can better *kitten* this with me so I can make the plans on how I would like this body to look. Rather than the guy who is about to deliver twins. most of my adult life I was a fat 128 lbs only in the last couple of years has the weight piled on ( last ten years)

That's a good point. I've never seen MYSELF at that level, so how can I judge if I'm too skinny. *Nods* Good point.

BMI doesn't seem to take body frame into account. My bf is over six foot and looks fine at 150 pounds, but I know larger frame guys who would just be skin and bones at that weight. What I would like to do is too lose until I look too skinny, then add some muscle back.

When I weighed 220, I thought that if I got below 190 I would be skin and bones. BMI says I would have to weigh 169 to have a BMI of 25. Now at 185, I don't think I would want to drop too much more weight, but 170 seems like it would a could place. I would just focus on getting to a goal where you think you would like to be, and once there, you can reevaluate.
  • BMI says I should be sub-200. I'll pass. I'd rather use bodyfat % as a measure of where I should be rather than something that doctors only use because it's cheaper than doing a full battery of tests on a person.
