Rule 7: No carbs after lunch...?

Rule #7: No Carbs After Lunch confuses me. Why does the book suggest that an apple can be part of your mid-afternoon lunch, if you aren't supposed to have carbs after lunch? Maybe because it's high in fiber?

Thoughts.

    I think from the meal plans he differentiates between simple carbs and complex carbs (although not explicit). In dinners there are a few simple carbs, but not many. Same with the afternoon snacks, very few simple carbs, and almost no complex. I assume it to mean no complex carbs like grains, pasta, bread, etc....

    That being said, I have followed the plan for 4 weeks, went on vacation, gained some weight, now back on the plan (lost my vacation weight in 4 days) I think I will limit my carbs in dinners, but I don't think I will completely eliminate them forever. Once in a while I still want a "clean" meal that does include some clean carbs, like a sprouted grain tortilla, or whole wheat pasta once in a while.

    Based on my experience this first week with the skinny rules, and I agree with JustineS. I was confused the first day about that and then realized as I reread parts of the book that "no carbs" means "no refined carbs". Therefore, if having bread (Ezekial) I'll have it at lunch at the latest. Then, for the rest of the day it is free veggies, maybe a fruit, and lots of protein and chia seeds. When I look at my diary, I see that I'm only eating 15-20% of the total carbs after lunch. I think that's what he means.

    So far it's working. . .in that I've lost 3.5 lbs in one week. Pretty good. . .course, my body is really processing out the food quickly!!! :blushing:

    Oh, and just yesterday, Hannah Curlee (Olivia Ward's sister, between the two of them the winner and runner up for TheBiggestLoser Season 11) said on her blog (I follow her) that she doesn't eat any carbs except veggies after 1pm each day.

    Take that from an expert on Harper's skinny rules! Clears things up a bit.
