Whole Foods Adventures

Hi all. I'm $93 poorer after my little lunch time trip to Whole Paycheck.

But, I had so much fun. I keep a little box in my office with Paleo-friendly foods. It was starting to run low.

I spent most of my money in the Raw Foods snack section. I love that section! Here's what I got:

- Wild Mountain Raw Foods Veggie Crackers: Sea Biscuit flavor. Made of sunflower seeds, flax seeds, carrots, Tamari (I know, not technically paleo because of the soy), sesame seeds, and spirulina. 5 net carbs. 3 g sugars.

- Same as above, but Zucchini Toast flavor. Made of sunflower seeds, flax seeds, zucchini, cabbage, garlic and a bunch of spices. 3 net carbs. 1g sugar.

- same as above, but Dandelion Detox flavor. My favorite. Flax, pumpkin seeds, apples, dandelion greens, and spices. 2 net carbs. 1g sugar. Ate this yesterday with tuna salad. yum.

- same as above, but Earth flavor. flax seeds, beets, carrots, swiss chard, sunflower seeds and spices.

- Roasted Macadamia nuts. 2 net carbs. 1g sugar. Lots of fat and cals. I need to figure out how many nuts = 1/4 cup single serving. I could probably eat the whole bag. Oh nuts! I just noticed they're made with Canola oil. Drat.

- Coco-Roons - Brownie flavor. Another raw goodie. unsweetened coconut, almond flour, cacao, maple syrup, coconut oil, salt. I hope they're good. But serving size is only 1 ball, so maybe I hope they're not too good. Net 6g carbs. 4g sugar.

- same as above, but Vanilla Maple flavor. 5 net carbs, 4g sugar

- Kaia foods sprouted sunflower seeds - garlic and sea salt flavor. 1 net carb. 1g sugar.

- Go Raw Spicy Flax Snax. Flax seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, and a bunch of spices. 5 net carbs, 1g sugar.

- Some arrowroot powder to use as a thickening agent at home since coconut flour didn't work in the last recipe I tried.

- a couple of organic avocados to take home.

- a HUGE container of fresh roasted Hatch green chilies. This is a big thing here, and you can only get them this time of year. I had some last week in my food share and loved them. I'm going to use some this weekend for my eggs, and freeze the rest.

- $10 thing of sashimi tuna that I had to throw out. Painful. I'm not sure if it tasted off, or if I just wasn't in the mood, but I took a few bites and got turned off. So sad.

Now... since my lunch wasn't enough, what should I eat first????

Personally, the Dandelion Detox crackers sound interesting. I'd be all over those.

If you still have your receipt take it back to Whole foods and tell them it was bad and you had to toss it. They should refund you or replace it with no question.

I'm a bit bias, but I love the place.

Good idea. But I said no to the receipt. I'm sure they still would have taken it back but I trashed it.

I LOVE wandering around that store! So much to look at, food and otherwise. I've discovered my all-time favorite body lotion at Whole Foods. It's Aubrey Rosa Mosqueta (rose scented). I also like the EO (Everyday Organics) body wash products.

Broadway and Arapahoe probably It was Alfalfas. Then it was Wild Oats. Then Whole Foods swallowed up Wild Oats and sold it... Now it's Alfalfa's again!

This town is crazy for markets. Lots of wealthy athletes = big food shopping mecca. We have 2 Whole Foods, Sunflower, Sprouts, two Lucky's, and Alfalfa's. Plus a massive farmers market twice a week. Plus 3 regular supermarkets. All within a few miles of each other. I love it.
