i'm back from my walk but still singing along. I walked quicker on the way to the farmer's market than I did on the way back. My two shopping bags were filled with local balsamic vinegar, 3 seed wheat bread, cucumbers, peaches, blackberries, raspberries, green mix, shalots, cantelope, little potatoes, two kinds of tomatoes, three kinds of peppers, and whole grain cinnamen swirl bread (for french toast Sunday morning with 2 of 3 adult kids home). It is easy to eat healthy this time of year! And then as a bonus, the organic dairy had its ice cream bonbons. Little pieces of ice cream in dark chocolate-100 calories of bliss!!! Just enough for a heavenly treat without the temptation of needing to measure a serving size.
What did you see or do on your walk???

Heading out now to get a little walk in. While on vacation, I lost my phone. When I went to the local Verizon store, I upgraded my phone since it would take a week to get the insurance replacement. What they didn't say is that I would lose my unlimited data plan by upgrading. Off now to give my local store a chance to make it right. If not, then I am going to give them a piece of my mind! Not that it will help, it's hard to find it most days...lol.

I hope you all had a great time listening to the music and getting your walk in.

HSH- I so wish we had a market near us. All of your goodies sound wonderful. The closest one is about an hour or more away depending on traffic. The other night on the way home from the funeral it took us 3 hours to go 25 miles...One day, I will live on that island with no traffic!

I am glad to be back in the swing and are so glad you are all here to share your time with me!

I haven't been walking but hope to soon, but the confusing thing is that I am losing weight. I going to say it has something to do with a lower calorie intake but I can't be sure since I haven't been tracking. So that's my next step - to start tracking again.

Our youngest turned 16 on Wednesday and promptly went for his drivers license - and got it. I have mixed feelings about this.

Today he is having a party for himself, summer is almost over-school starts on the 27th, he turned 16 & got his license, he has a lot to celebrate. My fear is that this is going to turn into a Project X  He can't give us a head count because a lot of the kids haven't said yes or no - so when the food and drinks run out - they will go hungry. Good news is, that it's Saturday night and they will all be leaving around 10 or 11 pm because of church on Sunday - thank you LORD!!

Well, have to finish laundry then head to work - have a great day ya'll!!

Love the tune list & actually many are on my Ipod as well. I did not get my walk in yesterday, just pulled the covers over my head when the alarm went off (I am usually up before the alarm) and instead of walking today about to head out on a bike ride along the river. Not sure, but think it will be about 9 miles round trip. Tomorrow my long run AM. I feel bad I missed you all yesterday. Have a good day & will catch up with everyone later.

    Hello ladies

What a week, what a week. So thankful for the weekend. I am being a bit lazy today but have an appointment to look at some more clothes in a bit. I am proud to report I sneaked a peak at the scales this am and have lost the effects of so much sodium from the seafood (about 5 lbs) and an addition 2 lbs. Still going to wait until Monday for the official weight in but I am feeling good knowing I will be past the 25 lb mark finally.

I have download most of the music but considering purchasing a player rather than looking for the ipod that have been packed away for 2 years !!! No idea where to even look. and I am pretty sure picking up a cheap player is worth the time I will save looking.

I did return to the eye doctor and it appears I will be receiving new lens it wasn't just my imagination that something was quiet right with these new glasses. They are the no lines but the transition section he feels is to weak.

Well time to head out for that appointment everyone have a great weekend and cherish each free minute !!!

    Hi ho hatters..

LONG day; ended up with 3 hrs overtime plus an hour in traffic and on the way home had decided to blow off the walk because i was just exhausted; but when I landed I thought hmmmm.. all the Hatters are gonna be out there doing their walkies.. I can't not... so I ran down to the treadmill and managed to log 1.6 miles and hummed the tunes in my head!!! So IPOM for not blowing it off.. I had to come and eat because it was almost 7pm by then and I was starving; not enough food today because it was so busy..sigh.. something I def have to work on is NOT going without for long periods.. i had lots with me but not enough "finger food"...and too busy to prep the other stuff. anyway I had to run up to eat because I go to bed way early as I'm up at 4am.. and didn't wanna eat right before bed! So I'm not happy im way under my calories for the day; but between a rock and a hard place with bedtime so will do better tomorrow. Packed sandwiches so easy to eat on the run rather than a salad.

Also excited because my sister sent me a text saying she and a g/f met for brekkie then strolled around the neighbourhood.. and she ended up walking 5km!!! I was pretty excited and proud of her.. and she's down a few pounds too so happy campers are we!

Hope all the other Hatters had lovely walks.. mine wasn't scenic as it was the treadmill lol..

Better showre and hit the sack; only one more day then I'm off for a while again so will be able to really concentrate on the eating more often thru the day im gonna try.

TA huge congrats on the loss ... but will wait to do the happy feet dance til you do your official check in! (but inside i'm dancing for ya now!) glad yr getting the new specs

Tonya lovely to have ya back; Bis hope the bike ride was good; flipflop lovely to see you back; you might want to run away from home during the party lol....

Patrice - can't wait to hear how you're walk went too!!

K, im fading fast lol.. nite nite hatters... sleep well!

Did anybody miss me on our morning walk? I had to get some stuff done @ Church for our singing tonight. Then my husband wanted to go to Red Lobster for lunch. So i missed it today. But I like the playlists. I will have to get them downloaded tomorrow to get me thur the rest of the week.

Did my walk today, but not with the new music... my husband is downloading now and i just gave him the new list  He said 'you know, this takes hours to download' Is there a quick and easy way to download the songs? I know nothing about downloading music. Gonna get an ipod though 'cause my phone runs out of juice pretty quickly on any day, let alone while listening to music!

Thanks for the new music. I mostly listen to religious/upbeat/inspiring music.

Patrice - I don't have an IPOD either; i wrote down the songs and sang then ones I knew to myself as I went LOL..... HMMMM.. yeah thats a little scary even to me! I knew those were your feet I saw walking beside me lol.. well done!

Cheryl - COURSE we missed ya..!! CAn't wait til there's another chance for us all to hoof it together....

Slept like crud last night; tired little puppy heading into work this morning but got lots of days to sleep in coming up, so as my old boss used to say to any of the guys who whined about anything.. "suck it up, buttercup" ... (and yes.. it was a woman boss lol....) I'm much better prepared with easy to eat healthy food today (no prep required as that did me in yesterday - nowhere near enough calories cause I just didn't have time to put together the stuff I brought) so should be a better day food wise :o)

see you this afternoon Hatters, and have a great day!

Yes, I missed you Cheryl, but I did not make it as well. Patrice, my son puts music on my Ipod & puts stuff on my BF MP3 as well. I have only ever done it a couple of times & it usually only takes a couple of minutes. I think it might take longer to download all 12 songs, but not more than an hour. For those w/o an I pod you can get an inexpensive MP3 for around the $30 range that works pretty well, but then again, sometimes I walk/and or run without it enjoying the sounds of the birds & taking in the nature around me.

A big IPOU to all my Hatter friends that have joined the walking group, doesn't it just make you feel great for the rest of the day?. It is beautifull here in New Enland today. The heat & humidity have gone I slept in again today (7 AM is late for me) about to head out on a 3.5 mile walk/run. My bike ride yesterday ened up being 10.5 miles & thank goodness I got it in as I had friends over for dinner . We had the last lasagna left over from Joe's ECoH & I had nearly a whole days worth of calories at one meal, then to the movies for the new Bourne movie.

Have a great day all & I will touch base later with everyone. Kathy

It was great seeing so many hatters walk by the window at the gym, I waved from my body pump class.
Who is going out in the morning?

Christmas carolling-what a great idea. It will be fun, but I want to treasure the remaining fleeting days of summer!

Sunday night I like to reflect on my week, because sometimes the scale is not always an accurate reflection of how the week progressed, and considering the scale finally moved last week and went down 4 lbs, realistically I think my body is probably going to be adjusting this week. I think it was a good week. I know there are things I need to improve, especially the amount of processed food and the amount of sugar in that processed food. My favorite Atkins bar, sweet and nutty almond is being discontinued. I was eating them every day for breakfast and I panicked when I found out. I went on ebay and bought 180 bars, at 50 cents a bar! I have 90 left, so I won't be changing that part of my breakfast for a while. But the second part of breakfast is a vitalicious muffin top, lots of fiber but lots of sugar.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a less processed, less sugar, but lots of fiber + - 100 calorie replacement for the muffin top?

My son's visit from Ann Arbor was way too short and he heads back tomorrow, and my daughter is packing up for her last year at college, so in 6 more days it will be back to the empty nest for the two of us. I am already missing them, but I have two wedding quilts to finish and baby quilts for twins to start, so while I won't be able to use spending time with the kids as an excuse, I should get sewing!

    Hello ladies,

Good to see everyone working on getting that exercise in  No work today so I got an hour of walking in today after church today also

This week went good got right back on track after the vacation and made lots of good choices. Have already packed a good and healthy lunch for tomorrow. Will be lots of walking tomorrow since it is the students first day. I am already tired thinking about it but excited to get started on the new year. I love to see the sparkle in a students eyes when they make a connection and finally understand something. It's the one of the most amazing experiences and makes me so proud of them and even myself for guiding them to that point.

    Everyone have a wonderful week

    Evening Hatters...

Glad to hear you enjoyed your walk cbm... and HSH congrats on the body pump class! I decided not to do a walk today; I only slept about 3 hrs last nite and ended up with more overtime so by the time I got home, I was exhasuted and hungry so no walkies today; but I'm fine with that decision; after yesterdays MH walk and my resistance training start I made my weekly exercise goal so a happy camper with the week... and even happier I have a week offf now LOL!

HSHl I know you wanted to wait til your offical weight in to claim the 4, but can we celebrate now?? I'm so happy for you, truly you must be thrilled!!! Big congrats on your hard work payin
I'm sorry... but I don't use any replacement meal type things so I'm no help with ideas.. I did try a few of those Belvita breakfast bars.. but honestly I just don't like the texture or taste... and even tho they're supposed to contain all the nutrients you need blah blah.. once I look at the ingredient list I;m done lol... I took a nutrion class thru work last year.. and they taught us how to read the food labels of course.. but they also talked about the important of reading the ingredients.. and as a guide said if anything has over 5 ingredients, don't eat it. (or if you're grandmother wouldnt recognize it as food, i.e. a pop tart .. don't eat it LOL).. they used a loaf of a bread made here (by Dempsters) that is touted on ads as 100% whole grain with flax or oatmeal or honey or whatever.. couple of different brands.. and I was buying it because i was under the IMPRESSION it was an excellent choice for bread based on eveyrthing I saw and read on the nutrition label... but they brot a loaf in and said k... this is DESSERT. I was like HUH?? so they turned past the label and said read the ingredients... a loaf of bread.. and it had FIVE LINES of ingredients..(and you know how long a loaf is.. and the ingredient list went right across the loaf and down to the next line.. and so on...and so on.. it had SO much hidden sugar in corn syrup and glucose, and tons of preservatives.. yet the label said high fibre, great source of whole grains blah blah... so for me, I'm trying really hard to eat more whole foods (of course I still buy some processed stuff.. but I try to limit it as much as possible, and I always read the ingredients list as well as the nutrional label now.. and reading it usually is enough to put me off with all the chemicals nad preservatives and coloring and that darn sugar... so I try to tstick to the five ingred rule.. which pretty much leaves steel cut oatmeal or eggs for brekkie! I do have a good recipe for a crustless type of quiche that you can fereze and cut like a pie and just nuke a piece for a good brekkie... or sometimes the night before I'll cook up an egg with some onion and peppers and spinach or something.. and take it to work along with a tortilla.. i put the egg in the wrap, nuke it for 20 seconds and its a good yummy and easy to eat brekkie... but that's about all i have idea wise.. maybe some of our other hatters can help you out with brekkies??

Hope everone is having a good evening; I'm gonna put my drops in and then hit the sack... nite nite hatters!!

Did my walk this am after church. It was quite nice to walk in 57 degree F weather after the past few weeks of high 70s to high 80s F. It was either the cooler weather or my fitness level is improving 'cause I burned 40-50 calories less than I have been averaging on the same walk for the past few weeks. It did seem easier and I was able to keep up a faster pace...
