Caffeine

I have realised I have to get willing to hand over my caffeine and diet coke habit. It didn't figure on my initial abstinence plan because it really wasn't a problem, or I didn't think so! But over the last few months I have seen it gradually increase. Now I KNOW caffeine isn't good for me and really it is just another addictive substance I am using but I have been in denial and just letting it go. But I am getting nasty indigestion at night and it makes me buzzy and if I drink diet coke I am really not drinking that water! So yesterday I had asked my HP for help with the diet coke and funnily enough I was in a room all day with a water fountain LOL. So I drank that water and had no diet coke ( I have been having at least one, maybe 2 or 3 a day) But I did have 3 cups of coffee and didnt think to ask for decaf.
So this morning I knew when I was journalling and having some quiet time that I needed to share this as well as ask for help. So its on my action plan, I will share it at my OA meeting on Thursday and for now I am sharing it here with you guys. Lots of love and wishing you all an abstinent day too

  • Hi-this one is the hardest for me. Wheat, sugar and diet pepsi are my three habits. I finally stopped the wheat and sugar, and am down to one small diet pepsi a day (sometimes I sneak in a little more). The craziness is that I tell myself, Oh no, if you don't drink it, you'll get a headache. I've blown that up into some catastrophe! So I'm drinking a little (I used to drink like a whole 2 liter a day, instead of water) but this is the hardest thing for me to "turn over." So glad you posted this.

It sounds like you have done great so far! I have had to realise that it is addictive and that I can't just have one ( bite/drink). I am sticking with decaf and losing the diet coke has transformed by water consumption. Its the substance I keep arguing about so Im just praying that this time it stays on my abstinent from list, ODAT
