I have been working through the program since mid-June and had reached week 7 when I went back to work teaching. We start our day with students at 7:45 and end at 2:!5........of course I am NEVER out of there before 3:00, most days is around 3:30 or 4:00. My problem is that when I started the program I was consistently going out for my jogs at 8:00 am, and now I have to go out at about 4:00-5:00. I am finding that I can hardly jog for a 5 minute stretch now, whereas before I was able to complete the 20 minute jog. I thought that maybe the heat was the culprit so I tried using the treadmill..........and it was even worse! I would much prefer to be outside.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? What did you do to push past it? I am thinking of dropping back down to an earlier week (W4D3??) and working back up from there.

If you were running at the same time each day, then your body get's used to that and it "get's into gear" around that time each day anticipating that you are going to work it out. When you change that schedule, your body also has to adjust. I know for me, I started working out around 4 everyday, then when I took a rest day I could feel my body warming up and my energy increasing around 4.
I've heard of studies with marathon runners that if they train in the evening and their marathon is in the morning they tend to perform less efficiently then if they train in the morning. So I would say if you can only do it in the evening, then just push through it until your body get's used to it. If you feel you need to drop back down a level for a couple of days, then do it until you get used to running at that time of the day.0 -
Thank you so much for responding. I was pretty much thinking the same thing, I just needed confirmation to make sure I wasn't completely off base in my assumption. :happy:0

I started C25k running after 6PM. During July and August, I switched to before 7AM due to the 5-6 PM heat and humidity. It took a few outings to adjust. I made the adjustment while running intervals not the long runs but I now run long (3 mi) runs in the morning on weekends. Now I run at convenient times and the temp is below 85 degrees.0

I hate waking up early so I would do mine in the evenings after the sun went down. It was August in Houston -- nothing worse! But once I got into the weeks with more running, I couldn't get to sleep at night. So now I make myself wake up early, before the sun rises. It's still cool and it gets me set for the rest of the day.0

I usually head out at 6-6:30 am. If heat is the issue, mornings are amazing. I'm also a fan of just getting it over with, then showering and getting ready for the day ahead.0

What a timely post to find.
I'm almost done with W2. Next session is on Friday.
I normally run in the mornings, but today I had to run this evening. Besides having to run in the evening, I had to walk the dog first. (2 miles).
What a difference it made...I made myself finish, but it was tough. When I run in the morning, I make it through like a breeze.
Time of day, and condition makes a huge difference.....0
