I'm about to start the keto diet Monday and i'm kind of nervous but excited at the same time. I have been trying to lose weight for about 3 years now and nothing seems to work! 'Im around 35 pounds overweight and hoping this will be my key to success! Anyone have any suggestions on any ways to make it easier to stay on track or any tips at all about it? I have been reading about the diet for around a month now. I would like to know if any one has any idea on how many calories i should be eating a day as well as how many grams of fat, protein, and carbs a day? Thanks!!!

There are lots of different schools of thought on macro %s, but I would stick with no more than 30 g of carbs a day to get yourself into it. Every person is different. I find that if I stay at 50 or less I'm usually okay.
My advice to you would be:
1. Plan, plan, and plan! This is restrictive. You will need to be prepared. If you last the first week, it'll get much easier. I find days 3 and 4 are toughest.
2. Drink plenty of water. I mean 2L or more a day. And get the majority of your carbs from greens, so that you can keep regular. Watch that stuff. And did I say drink water? Drink plenty of water.
3. Accept that for the first 3 or 4 weeks you life will not be same as before. You need to make this your front and center or you won't last. This is not a moderate way to live (for most people). Our world is full of carbs. If you have social engagements you cannot cancel, prepare yourself before going - eat ahead, journal, put a snack in your purse. But I would just stay home and focus on yourself for the first month. If you do this, by the time the first month rolls around, you'll be down 20 lbs or so.
All the best! This isn't easy (or everyone would do it But it's worth it!
Add me if you want.

You're a little but ahead of me. I'm in the reading a ton of stuff phase. I also decided it would be a good idea to spend a week eating the junk I always do and tracking it here. Good luck. I look forward to seeing both our progress.0

That's kind of what I did, I read about the diet for like 2 months before actually starting. I thinks its more helpful to do it that way so then you know what you're getting yourself into. Good luck to you too!0

I agree! Prep and drink lots of water (in the morning so you don't stay up all night). Also try to read online recipes to diversify as it is very easy to get bored quickly. I try to stay under 20 carbs and this is my schedule....
Morning: 3 hard boiled eggs and/or precooked turkey sausage (quick and easy)
Afternoon: Salad with ranch dressing. No stachy veggies such as potatoes, carrots, or beans.
Snack: Almonds
Dinner: Turkey/Chicken/Beef with vegetables
Not super fun but it works. I would plan something creative for the weekend like a quiche or low carb pizza. I would also buy keto sticks (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001EUAXZM/ref=oh_details_o03_s01_i00) to track progress.0
