So I've only done the fit test and day 1, but I'm wondering if my abs will get a good workout with Insanity. I know there were a few ab exercises in Plyo, but really the cardio was the difficult part. I never really felt the burn in my abs. I've been doing some circuit training prior to Insanity that had some more intense ab work, and I'm afraid to lose my progress there.

Anyone have any suggestions? Should I just hold out for more workouts (I've clearly not seen many yet!) or plan to supplement with ab specific workouts. Any suggestions for ab routine supplements?

Thanks for your feedback.

  • Go through all the videos first. I had alot of weight to loose when I first started and quite frankly my gut got in the way of "good form". But after a few weeks, as the weight started to pur off, and I got more flexible, my form improved dramatically. It was at that point i could start to feel the burn in my abs. There is much more upper body and core work in month 2 (which I'm currently in the moddle of) and I feel the burn in my abs even more now. I am at the point now though that I will do some ab work aside from insanity maybe twice a week, but I do not beat myself up if i don't get to those workouts.

My point is give the videos a shot first, because they are very challengeing, and then see how you feel. if you feel up to supplementing in some ab work or you feel that you have to go ahead and do it. Just see how your body reacts to the workouts first

you can always add abs workout.... After.
No need for the hard p90x ABS RIPPER X...
You could just go for the 10 minutes trainer abs .
I use it and it's killing me...10 minutes of burning abs.
So it's not too long and it will make your abs work...believe me lol

    Just an idea

I'm doing Les Mills Pump, but I replace LMP hardcore abs (3x a week) with Insanity's Insane Abs. Works like a charm.

Thanks for the suggestions. I didn't buy the Deluxe package (didn't even know it existed) so I don't have the insane abs DVD.

Where can I find the "10 minute trainer abs" you mentioned?

It seems one needs a whole library of DVDs. I'll add more as I go.

It's a product of Beachbody....By Tony Horton (P90X)..... But if you don't want to buy it all just for the abs... There's some video of people doing it on youtube....Not the real video but still...You'll see the moves and if you like it, you can buy the real thing.

I have the complete 10 minutes trainer box set and it's a great workout...

haha I like abripperX - but not a fan of the insanity cardio abs. Especially after doing an entire cardio workout, gosh. However if I don't do it semi regularly I feel like I walk sideways for three days after abripperx.

trust me...you will work your abs!!! you won't THINK you're working your abs...but will know the next morning when your abs are sore. even more in month 2. lots of plank-based exercises that are secretly working them.

i read somewhere "once you discover your core, you'll use it more"...i think this is true.

i was concerned that i was only doing the actual ab workout once a week, but i definitely work my abs with every workout. push-ups work your abs, for example.
