Running form?

As I get ready to start C25k, I've noticed I walk heel toe, but I run on my toes. (Read run as run to catch the bus, run across the street so as not to get hit by a car). I am not coordinated to begin with. Making myself run correctly is going to be hysterical to watch.

That's actually a legitimate running form! Check out Pose running, which is geared towards toe-striking. Be happy, lots of people are trying to learn what you already know!

I am one of those people trying to learn another style. I have been running heel toe, but find that my shins hurt. I have done some research and found information on pose running where you land on the ball or mid foot thus meaning less strain on your joints.

I'm doing week4 and have done 2 runs so far, next one due tomorrow. My knee has had a twinge on and off today while walking around at work, so I went for a walk instead of run, but tried the pose walking. Tricky. Trying to concentrate on keeping my foot under my hip, landing on mid foot not heel, what are my hips doing? Do my calves ache more? how are my shins? lol.

I suppose what it comes down to is there are differing opinions of the "right" running style. But if it works for you and is injury free then it must be alright. :)

Lisame--that's me as well--trying to concentrate on keeping legs under hips, stride and strike. I too have a twinge once in a blue moon in one of my knees--what I found extremently helpful with it was to buy one of those knee stabilizers--those strong elastic bandage with steel coil supports on each side with the knee hole/cut-out. It is very helpful and promotes confidence. I start week 7 tomorrow. Get a good repertoire of stretches for after your workout--esp. for the hip flexors and shins.

thanks, luvmycats. I have joined runners world site (once I got over the idea that I am not a runner - then I thought..... YET!) There are some videos for stretches there, and I found some good ones on YouTube too about running style, cadence and stretches. No knee pain now! :)
