I want to go to an OA meeting, but ...

Hey everyone,
So I'm going to be truly honest - I know I have a bad relationship with food. I love healthy foods and I get plenty of them in my diet, but within the past 7 months or so I have these seemingly uncontrollable urges to just eat and eat. Even when I'm stuffed or not hungry at all. Sometimes I sneak around the kitchen at night a grab a ton of random things and down them all in minutes without thinking. Then I wake up the next morning feeling proud of how well I ate the day before, until I remember the last minute binging I had ...
I have no idea what brought this habit on. It is especially weird because I am so active and, ironically, in school to become a personal trainer. I have gained about 10lbs, but I'm sure it would be much more if exercise wasn't somewhat leveling it out. It's scary how much I have to work lately to try not to eat something ..
I found out about OA and I really think it would help. There is a meeting in my area on Monday and I really want to go, but will I be out of place? I don't look overweight but when I read other OA members stories about their struggles with food I see myself reflected in them. Can someone tell me a little about what to expect at a meeting?

Hi there
everyone who has a problem with food is welcome at an OA meeting. If you go to a meeting you will see people of all shapes and sizes I have found a welcoming and understanding atmosphere and people who 'get it'. If you take a look at the OA website it gives you a great intro to what OA is about and I love the 15 questions which indicate if you might have a problem with food. You have nothing to lose! How about give it a go then report back?! Love xx:flowerforyou:0 -
