Hi, everyone my name is Vicki. It has taken me months to decide to go through with the surgery. I had my appt about 2 weeks ago and have started the process. I have my specialist appts set up and I'm starting my 3 months of required monitoring for insurance. This site has been a wonderful help, but I need that extra help that the surgery with give. I would love to get to know everyone and support each other. Thanks for listening. Have a great night!

I'm almost 11 years post op and still thankful for having the RNY. During the years I have put on maybe 20 pounds and I have 14 more to go to get back to my original loss weight. You will do great!:happy:0

Welcome, I hope like so many of here you find support and encourgement in the pre and post surgery stages. It took me more than 2 years to give myself permission to have the surgery, I just couldn't get over the feeling that I had somehow failed. I can't even remember that person and all those negative thoughts now. I wish you the best and congratulate you, as you have already taken the first and maybe the hardest step.

I am like others on this board. So glad I did the surgery (lap band) and just wish I had done it years ago. I started at 380# and this morning I was at 288.3. I missed my initial goal of 100# by end of 1st year (August). But still, I'm 92 pounds down. It's absolutely amazing! I started in a tight size 34 and currently am in 22/24 and still losing. It's not easy by any means. It's not a magic bullet. You have to want this to make it work. There are ways to eat around your surgery and there are ways to gain.....believe me, I know. But, it you are diligent and serious about wanting the weight loss, and utilize your tools (surgery, support groups, surgeon's office, nutritionist).0

sometimes you might think it was a mistake but with the weight you loose and how you start feeling good about yourself that thought will quickly pass.
I had RNY on 5-9-12 and I am so happy I had my surgery. right now I have lost over 60lbs and I am getting healthy.
good luck on your new journey and your new life0 -
