Hi all,

In looking for a minimalist road shoe I decided to try the Saucony Kinvara as several MFP folks have recommend it and the reviews are excellent.

A couple questions:

Has anyone used the Kinvaras for marathon running and what was your experience? I'm striving to get over ITBS and hoping a minimalist road show will help me.

Also, my local running store has the 2 and 3 models. I tried them both on and liked the feel of the 2s better and they were on clearance so yay for saving a few dollars.

I came home and read several reviews praising the improvements of the Kinvara 3. I'm inclined to just go with my 2s since I liked the way they felt better but given what I'm reading online I wanted to ask my MFP peeps-any experience with the Kinvara 2 and 3 to compare? Are you preferring the 3s for comfort and wear?

By the way here is the review of the 3 on runblogger which explains some of the differences and also contains a video showing the differences for those who are interested:

Thanks!

I wore the Saucony Kinvara 2 when I trained for the Prairie Fire Marathon last year. I loved them. I didn't pay attention to my miles and got up to 600 miles on them and then my feet started getting sore. My bad. I switched back to Asics for my winter training only because I thought the extra material might be warmer. I never went back to the Kinvaras, because I later developed an over use injuries and didn't think going back to a minimalist shoe would be a good idea. Several people in my running group run marathons in them.
