My Body Revolution Journey

Although I am already halfway into the program (almost done with week 7), I thought I would post to this daily with comments about my daily workouts. I hope it will keep me motivated to keep going, pick up any pointers, help each other with modifications, and inspire others to keep going as well! Feel free to comment or ask questions!
Some background information:
I am a big Jillian Michael fan and have all of her DVDs (except the new abs one). Because I am a working mom, my workouts get done in the evening after dinner. I have a lot going on at home right now and have limited time so my gym membership is on hold and these are my only workouts. I did not take before pictures or measurements (always been bad at that!). I am not following her food plan. I take in about 1350-1400 calories per day. As per my Polar F6 hear rate monitor I typically burn 220-230 calories on the strength DVDs and more on the cardio.

8 pounds for medium,
10 pounds for heavy.

Bridge dumbbell lat pulls
Cable crossover pulls

Let me just say I much prefer WO #8 than WO #7! WO#7 is so challenging that I don’t feel accomplished when I am done with it. Although I do have difficulties with the surfer get ups in this workout. Although it’s just 3, I am usually just getting one done and then it's time to move on. Who knew it was that difficult? The other challenging move is the transition from crescent to Warrior 3.
I can do crescent with the rear flies. However, pushing off the leg into Warrior three HURTS! and I usually fall over. I can usually hold Warrior 3 if I keep my weights down to my side. I’ve tried raising them out to my side, or raising them out and forward like the DVD and it’s a no go. Anyone have any pointers? Did you have difficulties with this move? Have you conquered it? How? Athough I am using 5#s or 6#s here, perhaps I'll try 2#s next (I don't have anything in between).

that is awesome! right now I use 5 lbs when she says "light" weights...and 8 lbs when she says "heavy". there are times I could definitely step it up a notch to 10 lbs if I had some handy...especially in the chest moves. I just seem stronger there.
You guys are scaring me on the WO 7! Everyone is talking about how hard that one is!
I am just on week 5 doing workouts 5 and 6!~~
Keep up the good work! :flowerforyou:0 -
I am on jury duty this week so it has limited my online time. So I have a couple days to catch up on.
WO completed: Tuesday, 9/18
Week 7, Day 6, Cardio 2 DVD
Calories burned:233
Moves:
No warm up, it goes straight into in. Cardio 2 is 30 second intervals, compared to Cardio 1 which is 1 minute intervals.
Jumprope
Butt Kicks
High Knees
Alternating Knee Thrusts
Jumping Jacks
Fast Feet
Skaters
Skiers
Plie hops
Cross Jacks
Upper Cuts
Towels runs to left
Towel runs to right
Hooks to left
Hooks to right
Burpies
I like Crdio 2 and like the fact it is 30 second intervels. As Jillian says, youcan stand anything for just 30 seconds. I dislike the Plie hops; they hurt my knees. But what I hate the most are the burpees! I have very long legs,so I really have to hike my butt up so I can hop my legs out without banging on the floor. I go slow with these and can definitly use some improvements on these!!!!
Motivatedbride: Thanks for the encouragement!!!! Don't fear WO# 7. Take it slow like I do and really concentrate on form. You will burn less calories however with proper for you will be building your stength and really reshaping your muscles here!0 -

Calories burned: 178

Had a hard time today. PMS is leaving me very tierd, which is evident in today's workout As per Jillian's schedule usally I have a day of rest betwen the end of one week and the begining of the next however because I havebeen busy and have had to miss a day or two here, I am doing 6 days on and one day off.
Circuit 1
-Crow push ups: I had to modify to regular knee push ups
-Walking planks: Really felt this in my abs today!
-Plank ups: Third plank move in a row so no way my arms were holding. Had to modify to my knees.
-Jack Knife Crunches: I can't keep my legs straight and get them to come up. But really pushed myself here and got some good proper form ones here, although I was slow! But that's OK!
Circuit 2
-Downward dog with shoulder push ups: Got 3 or 4 in, held downward dog for the remainder of time
-Cable tricep kickbacks: My cable is not long enough for this and I fumbled like an idiot. Used hand weights second round.
-W shoulder press w/leg extension: Sometime have to put my foot down but that's oK!
Circuit 3
-Cable squats: All good
-Cable tricep extensions: my resistance band is too short. Needed to use weights. I ordered Jillian's bands and should have them tomorrow.
-One leg push ups: I had to modify to knees and really concentrate on form. Only think I got one or two proper forms in.
Circuit 4
-Kneeling and lower but holding weight overhead: No issues, although had to swap out my 10 lbs for 8 lbs
-Chest press with legs extended: No problem with the press, worked on my leg forms
-Side plank with hip raises: This move is defeating me and I have to modify to my knees.
Chest Flys with legs extended: No problem with the fly, worked on my leg forms0 -

I seriously, no matter how hard I try, cannot do a Surfer get up! What the heck? Is there a secret to it? And the transition from crescent with flies into Warrior 3 is still a tough one for me. I held onto the weights and let the hang at my side.
 Friday, 9/21 is a day of rest for me. I do 6 days on and one day off. :bigsmile:0 -
My workout plan changed a bit here. It went like this:
-Friday, 9/21: Rest day
-Saturday, 9/22: 1 hour work out with Jillian in REAL LIFE! (pictures here: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.4331907412107.2177744.1119909171&type=3&l=7c953af31d)
Also 45 minutes Zumba Class, and a 10 minute jump training class.
Then an active night of walking casino to casino in Atlantic City.
-Sunday, 9/23: Still at the Exp and took another 45 mutes Zumba class, a 30 minute TRX class, and 2 10 minute workouts class.
-Monday, 9/24: Although technically on Body Revolution today should be Week 8, Day 3, Cardio DVD, because of my active weeken I skippedthe DVD and moved onto Day 4, WO #7 DVD.0 -

So this workout went well! It was my first at-home post-Jillian workout, so I was pumped to do it. And, I had ordered new resistance bands (Jillian’s) and were ready to use them. After testing both resistance bands (Level 1 and Level 2) I decided to use Level 2 and it was great. AND…I had a new mat to work out on!
I workout in my living room, which has a hard wood floor. I have an exercise mat (a roll up one) however it only provides comfort when workout out on the floor. It doesn’t prevent me from sliding (such as when in plank, lunges, etc). I tried two area rugs, which doesn’t help because the rug itself moves. Even went out and bought these slip resistance things…no help. I actually tried putting those shower slip resistant decals on my shoes and it didn’t help. I tried two other mats, no help. In Jillian’s class we used these great and fantastic mats during the workout. Afterwards I was telling my husband about it, it was just what I needed at home!!! After Jillian’s class I went over to the fitness expo to hear her speak. One of the booths was selling those mats! What I bought is called a Zebra Yoga Tile Floor. It’s 1/2" x 39.4" x 78.8". It was very expensive; $110 for one tile, but oh so worth it! It doesn’t slip or move. I am stable standing on it, and I don’t slip or move. It cushions the jump impact, which is great because my landlord lives downstairs. I love this mat so much and it was worth EVERY PENNY! Even though I had to put it on my credit card after I swore to myself to never use a credit card again until I get out of debt, I am still happy I did so.
As for the workout…the plank work went well thanks to my new mat. I can really push and force myself now, knowing I am stable. Before, I didn’t push as hard as I could because I was afraid of slipping and hurting myself. The new resistance cable works great as well. Now I know why my other two did not work; it’s all in the handles. Jillian’s handles move and are better ergonomically designed over my other two. So I will keep level 2 and return everything else.0 -

This is my last time doing this DVD. Kinda sad I never figured out how to do surfer get ups. And I didn’t advance as far as I would have liked on the transition from crescent with flies to warrior 3 with weights. Is there any Warrior 3 moves in the upcoming DVDs and I should still practice this?0
