First appt done! Everything going okay so far. My due date is still April 23rd based on my lMP. I will have my first ultrasound on October 3rd (I will be 11 weeks then). I did get all my labs done too (4 tubes of blood and a urine test).

Hello! Just had my first appt. today and I am due on April 14th, but will probably be the week before due to having a c-section my first time around.
Looking to see how people are keeping active and all that fun stuff. :-)

    Hi guys,

Thanks for this thread! I'm new to tise group but not MFP, although I'd reached my goal weight a while ago and so wasn't really tracking for the last few months. But now that I am pregnant I've started again - though this time to make sure I'm eating enough, which feels weird! I'm pretty nauseous every afternoon and evening, so it's a challenge. But I've not lost any weight so it's clearly not so bad. I'm due March 31 which is pretty much April! And I think was just put at March 31 cos the gynae wanted to avoid April Fools jokes ;)
This is my first pregnancy, and I'm totally thrown by how exhausted and sick I am so far, but I'm close to 11 weeks so am just hanging in there and hoping once I'm clear of the first trimester things will improve. My husband travels a lot for work and is away at the moment which means I get to go to bed at 8 pm if I want to, and eat cereal for dinner without getting any strange looks!

Looking forward to getting to know you all

Welcome everyone!!! I've been sticking to 2,000 calories a day and haven't gained much weight yet. Off to a houseboat this weekend with a barbecue and someone is bringing 4 lbs of brownies and chocolate chip cookies. So hard to say no when you're pregnant, or it's just my excuse.

    Have a great weekend everyone!!!!

Hello April Mommies! How is everyone doing? I've gained 2.6 pounds so far - but it looks like a lot more! And I am trying not to over eat but being exhausted and nauseous just lends itself to cheating with comfort food! Argh! I am trying...

My first Dr's appt is this Thusday - FINALLY! I am really looking forward to hearing little one's heartbeat!

Hi everyone! I just joined the group; got my positive test a week ago at 6 weeks (based on lmp) so now I'm 7 weeks along. This is pregnancy #3, baby #4. I have a 2.5 year old daughter and b/g twins who will be 1 year old tomorrow. So they'll be 20 months when this little one arrives, which is how old my first was when the twins were born. My first appt is this Monday; I'm hoping for an ultrasound to verify there's only ONE (please, oh please!) in there. I'm pretty sure it's only 1 because my symptoms aren't as bad as they were with the twins; they're about on par with my first pregnancy. Just some tiredness so far (I try for a nap when my 3 are napping) and nausea, same as my other pregnancies. I gained about 50 lbs with my oldest (!), lost it all just in time to get pregnant with the twins, gained 50 again (the appropriate amount that time!), lost it all and more and currently weigh the lowest I have in my adulthood (I'm 29). I haven't gained any weight so far; I'm eating at maintenance, which is 2150. I'll increase by 300/day later in the pregnancy. Anyway, that's me! We haven't announced to anyone yet, so while I'm happy to add you as a friend, I'd appreciate no baby mentioning on my wall since I have RL friends in my list. :-)

*edited to add: my profile pic is from yesterday; a pic of me at 36 weeks with the twins compared to now

    Hi Everyone!

I had my official "New OB Patient" visit yesterday even though I've been twice already (once to confirm, one for dating ultrasound). I didn't have a lot of symptoms the first time around and so far the same with this one. The past few weeks, I've been feeling even more normal than usual so I was nervous going in. Even though my doc warned me in advance that it could take a while to find the HB with her dobbler since the baby was small, that was the most nerve-wrecking 3 minutes or so of my life! But she found it again - in the high 160s. Relief! There is still a baby in there! I feel much more confident now about making it out of the first trimester OK. HB at 7w3d, HB again at 11w.

On Wed, were doing the Nuchal Translucency Screening. Another thing to be nervous about...sigh. I swear, I'm way more paranoid this time around that I ever was with my first pregnancy!

On the health front, I've been doing alright. I'm still exercising almost daily and I feel great. I'm finding myself a bit averse to eating green veggies which makes me feel bad. I crave carbs and I think I've been giving in a little too much. ;) At doc apt, I was up a total of 2lbs. At 11 weeks, I'm fine with that. I know I gained 10lbs in my first tri last time. And while my nutrition is not up to my pre-pregnancy standards, it is nowhere near as awful as it was back then.

    Hope everyone is doing well!

Congratulations Jess! I hope for the sake of your sanity that there is only one baby in there. You have your hands full already!

Oh, I want to join in! I'm Caroline! I have a 3.5 year old son and am due April 9th. I'm 32 years old. I have my 2nd prenatal appt tomorrow. I bought a Doppler a few weeks ago so I listen to baby regularly and it seems ok to me. I gained about 40 pounds with my son and remained overweight yet very active. I workout hard and used to run a lot but have terrible eating habits. We have been trying to bring home baby #2 since my son was 1 year old but have lost a few babies along the way. The TTC & pregnancies have had a terrible affect on my weight. I said screw TTC and being fat after my last MC and lost 8 pounds in 8 weeks then got my BFP. I upped my cals but was still eating healthy and losing weight. I'm finally very slowly gaining a tiny bit here and there. I'm overweight still and my goal is to just gain 20 pounds. Since about week 8 though my eating habits have gone down the toilet. I ate 2 whole snickers bars after lunch today!! Oh boy. I guess that's dinner.

Hello Everyone, just here to check in! it's great reading everyone's stories. I'd like to respond to everyone individually but just don't have the focus ;) Looks like lots of you have been doing well with not really gaining weight. i have gained 10 pounds already (I'm 11 weeks) but I'm hoping that will start to level out. I haven't been able to work out because I've had some bleeding so the doc said nothing but walking, I also had a death in the family so between those things I've been eating a lot and not getting workouts. Food other than carbs are starting to appeal to me so I'm hoping that I will soon be back to my healthy eating ways :)

I tried to go for a walk today and got about 1/2 a mile out before getting real sharp pain in my lower abdomen so I decided I should head back and take it easy. i wasn't happy about that because I was really looking forward to the walk but I figure, better safe than sorry and I'll talk to my doc about it at my appt Wed.

has anyone else had problems with bleeding? The babies heartbeat is strong and everything looks healthy other than the bleeding so the doctor isn't too concerned but said to go easy on the working out and no sex for at least the first trimester. i'm really hoping that at this next appt he allows me to up my activity level!

I totally understand, EmilyRanae22! I had some spotting at 8 weeks, and then a bleed followed by a day of spotting at 11 weeks (now at 13 weeks) and everything is totally fine - baby heartbeat grand, and growing on schedule ( had a scan yesterday). Bleeding is terrifying - but my gynae said v. common and not always explicable. It does make exercise scary though - I've just been doing some daily stretches and walking and that seems to be working out okay. I'm waiting for it to warm up ( I'm in asfrica so coming into spring) so that I can start swimming. I've only gained 2 pounds so far which is a little bit scary too, but I've had constant nausea and food aversions which are just beginning to lessen so that's why. Amazing how veggies become so unappealing and glad I'm not the only one who's mad about carbs all the time. Hopefully soon will put on a bit of weight - now that's a thing I'm not used to saying!

I had some bleeding the first time around. I was working out and felt a gush and...blood. It was really scary. I just knew I was having a miscarriage. I called the doctor and he suggested that if I did not soak a pad through then it would be OK. The bleeding slowed down and I made an apt for a few days later. We saw my baby was fine on the ultrasound. He's 3 now so obviously everything was fine.

They never did figure out what caused the problem. I also had some random episodes of brown blood bleeding if I did certain exercises. Weird. I avoided those exercises for the rest of my pregnancy and it didn't happen anymore.

It hasn't happened at all during this pregnancy. I'm grateful for that.

Glad to know i'm not the only one who has experienced some bleeding (though I don't wish I on anyone). Doc ordered a stat ultrasound yesterday because he couldn't get the babies heartbeat on the Doppler, everything was fine when we saw the ultrasound. :) It's fun to see the baby moving around....but they did an internal ultrasound which brought on more bleeding :-/ Guess I wont be working out much for a while.

keyalus, I'm glad to hear your docs advice that if you don't soak through a pad you're good. That's comforting.

Workerbee, I wouldn't worry too much about having only gained 2lbs unless your doc said he/she is concerned. From what I understand you don't really need to gain in the first trimester. I asked my doc how much I should expect to gain and he said he'd like to see about 10lbs by 20 weeks and probably another 15 during the rest of the pregnancy....I think I've already gained close to the 10 :-( But it's been a real rough month with things other than the pregnancy so I'm just hoping I don't gain too much the rest of the time. He also said to make sure my calories are about 30% from protein so i'm trying to force myself to eat more of that.

Hello Mommies! I haven't been posting much because I am SO. RIDICULOUSLY. TIRED. ALL. THE. TIME!!! It's starting to make me sad because instead of feeling happy & pregnant, I feel like I have some serious illness! I feel like I am just a small fraction of myself around my husband and 2 year old. UGH! I can't wait for this part to ease up! Please!

Okay. Enough griping. Next week I go in for my second appointment and I am also taking a new test called MaterniT21. Is anyone else taking this? It's recommended by my OB because of my "Advanced Maternal Age". But basically, it tests for the 3 most common genetic disorders (Trisomy 21,18 and 13) with no risk to the baby and with 99% accuracy. They will just draw a little blood from me. And they can run this test as early as 10 weeks. Then we wait up to 10 days for the results. The exciting part is that it also determines gender if you want. So we are pretty excited to find out whether or not little bean is pink or blue so early!

I promise that I am reading and enjoying keeping up with all of you even though I have been too tired to type!

    xo,
    Jen

    Hi Jen,
i can totally relate to being too tired to type, I'm so tired but also sooooooo busy so I have hardly any spare time! I have not heard of that test. That's awesome you will find out gender early. I should find out at about 18weeks. They are sending me for some extra testing because I was exposed to x-ray and provera before we knew I was preggo so I have an appt this week to do the first scan and then another at 18 weeks and they will do anatomy and finish the other tests. Apparently it's mostly checking for Downs syndrom I don't know what else they are looking for though.

Well ladies, it turns out I need to move to the May group! Had an ultrasound today and baby is measuring 1 week behind my LMP EDD, putting me at May 5 instead of April 28. I'll probably deliver in April, but for the time-being I'll hang out there, since the timing of symptoms will coincide better. The GREAT news, though, is that we're only expecting ONE baby! I'm not sure what we would have done if we had twins again....ack! So, whew, only 1.

Hi everyone. I’m 29 years old and due 4/24 with my second. I have a 4 year old son already. I had a miscarriage in April the resulted in me having to get 2 d&cs. I ended up getting pregnant again in July and this one seems to have stuck. I’ll be 11 weeks tomorrow. I have had some bleeding and I woke up and passed a big blood clot about 3 weeks ago. I thought for sure that it was over but we went in for a u/s the next day and the tech shocked us when she said found a heartbeat. We were able to hear the heartbeat at the doctors last Friday with the doppler. I was surprised because I’m overweight so I figured that it would be harder to hear. We’ve had 3 u/s so far but we won’t have another one until we are 19 weeks. It’ll be a level 2 to check for birth defects and especially for cleft palates because my husband was born with one and my son had a very, very minor form of one. He has what is called a bifid uvula. It’s where his uvula is forked. It’s nothing that will need to be fixed or anything so that’s good :-) I’m thinking about buying a Doppler for at home so my son can hear the baby. I’m not sure which one to get. I’ll have to check Amazon. I’m hoping that I can control my weight better this time around. I gained like 60 with DS1 :-( This time the doc said to shoot for 10 – 15. So far I’ve gained about 6 so I better get my butt in gear. I just got off of pelvic rest (from the bleeding issues) last Friday so I can finally start walking again. I think I’m going to look for a pregnancy workout dvd too.

Sock, sounds like you and I are having similar experiences this time around. I've had some bleeding issues too which scared the crap out of me. Doc said to wait 2 weeks from the site of blood to be active so I've been limiting my walking to more like around the block than the 3 miles or so I'd like to do. The doc said what he'd like to see is gaing around 10 pounds by 20 weeks and about 15 more thoughout the rest of the pregnancy...I've also gained about 6 so far. Doc couldn't hear the baby with Doppler, he thinks I have a tilted uterus so he can't get to it. But he sent us for a Stat ultrasound and everything is OK and baby's heart rate is about 160 so that is good :)

13 w 1 d. I've started my coffee routine back up at 1/2 c a day. I couldn't take the fatigue! I feel like I'm eating so much more then my MFP momma friends due around the same time. I'm at maintenance. I'm wondering if nausea or vomiting keeps there cals so low or are they holding off on increasing cals. I was never really nauseous with this pregnancy. I feel like a pig but I'm gaining appropriately for the 20 pound total gain that I've calculated. Anyone regularly eating less than 1500 cals? I'm eating between 1800-2300 including my excercise cals and am kind of embarrassed after comparing.

I'm eating 1800+ Cakes so don't feel bad. you are doing the healthy thing for your baby and if you are on schedule as far as weight gain don't worry about it. I have mine set and maintenance and the doc said about 1800 calories a day before I even told him that was what I aimed for. Keep on keepin on!

AFM, I have an appt with a genetic specialist today, I'm looking forward to knowing for sure that the baby is OK and the X-ray didn't hurt him/her. Yesterday was also my last day taking the progesterone and I'm SOOOOOO glad to be done with it :) Now I just need to figure out why my shoulder is killing me so much. I need to go get X-rays and the OB said it's fine because they have the lead tummy shield but it still makes me nervous.

I've recently thrown caution to the wind and have been eating whatever I want to. UGH!! This happened with my first baby and I ended up gaining over 50 pounds. I think my emotions are telling me "do whatever the F*** you want, you have a great excuse".

I'm hoping I'm just in a funk right now and get back to making healthier decisions. I've added mayo back into my sandwiches, i'm eating fast food and not always choosing from the healthy menu anymore, I'm craving starches, so lots of pasta and potatoes = lots of calories.

Anyone else lost a little self control in regards to food?

I'm 9 weeks today... seems a bit early to be getting' all crazy

I have had this same attitude! I didn't gain much my first pregnancy because I was already bigger, but now that I have lost 60 lbs., I totally worry about gaining a ton. I have been getting in fruits and veggies as much as I can, but have also been eating a ton of sweets and junk food. :-( I can't get a grip either!

    Exciting!
  • I'm back in the game (after a miscarriage in May) I have no clue how far I am. I think 10 weeks, but the midwife says 12 weeks. I had a good heart rate at 155 and I go in for an official dating ultrasound on Monday morning since we are unsure, but I assume it'll be April-ish ;)

I'm relieved the heartbeat was good, but am still paranoid until I see the US. Ha ha, oh well, always a worrier I suppose.

Edit to add: as for the MFP stuff I am up about 8 pounds already and have taken my old super duper running/yoga/spinning/bootcamp schedule down to um, walking. Its so sad. I do miss yoga madly and am running a beer themed fun run this Saturday (obviously signed up for that a long time ago, no beer for me this time ;() but won't be breaking any records!

My goal this week is to nail down a safe yoga class for preggo people in town that isn't $20 per session. Geesh.

Oh man, my doc called and said that my PAP came back abnormal. Looks like I'm going to have go in for a closer look when I go back for my baby check up on 10/25. I hope it's nothing bad. He said it could be cervical dysplasia but that they would have to do some tests to see what's really going on. I've talked to a few other people and they said that sometimes your cells change when you are pregnant and then change back to normal after birth. I sure hope that's the case!!! I've never had an abnormal PAP before!

12 weeks 4 days today...had another ultrasound and baby was moving around like crazy. HB was 167 and everything looked good. The cyst I have has shrunk so that's good. Just have to hope it keeps shrinking as I move along in the pregnancy. Finally announced it to everyone so I am feeling pretty relieved.

idn't it fun to see the baby moving around so much! your due date must be on or about April 15, cause I'm 12wk 5 days today and that's the time they gave me :) How fun! :)
