This is kind of a minor inconvenience, but it's really a pain for me (literally). Ladies, especially those with long hair... what do you do with your hair when practicing? I typically wear mine in a bun which is great most of the time, but in supine positions, especially savasana, it really hurts. I feel like it throws me off if I'm constantly messing with my hair or adjusting it back and forth. A braid doesn't keep well at this time because I have layers growing out. I'm just at a loss. It's harshing my vibe, yo. ;)

Another thing... during my home practice, I have trouble transitioning between poses that are either seated/face forward and those that are prone/face down. Are there particular poses that make the change from front to back a little more fluid?

I usually take the top part of my hair and put it in a little ponytail kind of high up and leave the rest down. This way when I am on my back it's not getting in the way and when I'm on all fours its not in my face. Good luck!

I wear a ponytail. I've noticed that a lot of people with layers in their hair wear stretchy elastic headbands and then also a ponytail holder.

    Like this: http://www.polyvore.com/scunci_4pk_thin_elastic_headbands/thing?id=56837962
    Or these: http://www.lucy.com/Hats/Headbands/Scarves/Hats_Headbands,default,sc.html

    Here's an example: http://athleta.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=84140&vid=1&pid=739502

Oh, and for the transition: downward facing dog? cat/cow?

I put a bun way up on top of my head, and then use a yoga headband to keep any straggling hairs out of my eyes.

I use a hair clip, and remove it for the final relaxation. My hair is messy, but what do I care? Our eyes are closed.

I know what you mean! I usually wear mine in pigtails or double braids and luckily still get away with it...lol:P And just a pin or headband for the stragglers. I have had several hair transitions and it still seem to work with layers. I also wear it in a low pony (by the neck) and that seems to help too when lying down. If I was a bit more skilled & patient, I'd do a top knot bun:) But yeah, pigtails/braids are the most comfortable for me I find, especially with inversions (ponies can get caught on the mat).
