Won't be ready until spring..yay!

I had hoped to compete in my first fitness event next month and had been training since July. I took a body fat test based on the suggestion from my trainer and learned that my body fat was to high to safely get down to 12%. So I'm now focused on spring and enjoying the journey. I must say that I was killing myself trying be ready for October and not enjoying the experience at all. I'm dropping 1.5 per week and building muscle and feel a lot less stress. Have any of you gone through this?

    May I ask what your body fat was sitting at? I am currently sitting in what feels like the same situation. I am working my butt off for November but I am killing myself. Not sure if I need to take a step back or push harder than ever. I have been thinking about this a lot. I keep telling myself I will be devastated if I don't compete this year BUT in reality would I be better off waiting until I can do it in a healthier way? I feel pretty lost and noone gives me a straight answer lol
