5 Day Puch Test Q's

I've been curious about this "test" for a while now. I have regained 20 lbs. in the last years since reaching my goal. I want to do the pouch test to kind of jump start my weight loss but to also get back in touch with my pouch. I want to hear from you guys before I decide to do it. So I have some questions.
Have you tried the 5 day pouch test?
What was you experience/results?
Have you consulted your surgeon and/or nutritionist about it?
What did they say?
Would you do it again if needed?

Have you tried the 5 day pouch test? YES
What was you experience/results? GOOD/GREAT
Have you consulted your surgeon and/or nutritionist about it? DON'T HAVE EITHER SO WAS UNABLE TO ANSWER THIS ONE, SORRY.
What did they say? NA
Would you do it again if needed? YES, DEFINITELY AND I HAVE DONE IT REPEATEDLY IN THE PAST WHEN I HAD A 70 LB REGAIN. THAT'S WHEN I FIRST HEARD OF IT AND IT DOES WORK.
GOOD LUCK!0 -
Thanks for sharing Deb! Was it difficult to go back to liquids?
For the moment I still have a nutritionist so I emailed her today for her thoughts.0 -
I didn't do the 5 Day Pouch Test, but I did have an upper GI done to check the pouch. Its fine, I was eating way too many carbs.0

I haven't done it in several months but yes, it was difficult for the first 2 days on the liquid. It was great to know that the pouch wasn't broken though. After you start reintroducing food per the test, you feel SO tight and full that I don't ever remember feeling before. I am 14 yrs post op, so keep that in mind. Be sure and get your surgeon or nut approval. You may not be a good candidate. I'm happy you have a nut to glean info from. I've never had one. In fact, my surgeon retired within my 1st year post op so I was on my own and that is why I had the initial 70 lb regain, yikes!0

I did that too at one point before I found out about the test and it turned out all good. I wish I would have known about the test first so I didn't have to drink that yucky chalk water, lol. Still relieved that I didn't undo the surgery, which was my first concern.0 -
Ew! The Upper GI nasty thick chalky drink of EVIL! I hope I never have to drink that stuff again.
Well I heard back from my nutritionist and this is what she saidIt sound like it is a good idea to guide you back to eating lean protein and
not so many simple carbs such as pasta, bread, rice, etc.
I would say do it once to help you remember when you feel full.
Will need to limit your calories to around 1000-1200 calories and making
sure protein intake is at least 70 grams per day
Also make sure physical activity is no less than 60 minutes daily.0
