Hi All,

So everything is going well food wise, I could do with upping my calories a bit during the week - I usually hover around 1200, but at the wknd I go over so I think it balances itself out!
I reakkt feel like Im really into the swing of low carb. Im dropping weight, energy is increased, finding it easy to turn down food and I just generally feel great.

My only main concern is I struggle SO much to get my protein intake up!

I was wondering if anyone used Protein shakes for this? Are they low carb? Do you have them for breakfast?

Any information / advice would be great as I am TOTALLY clueless with shakes / vitamins etc.

Thanks : )

  • I use Nature's Best Isopure protein powder. The dutch chocolate and vanilla are good. I use 1 scoop with almond milk, ice, and frozen strawberries or blueberries. Super good.
  • Pure whey protein is usually very low carb. Most commercial mixes have additives for taste and some extra carbs. I'd ignore MFP's macros and eat at least 1g protein per lb/body weight if you want to preserve your precious muscle mass when cutting.

I usually take Optimum 100% Whey double chocolate. Tastes like a milkshake.

I love the Optimum 100% Whey double chocolate too.

My stomach doesn't like me to eat too early, so for breakfast I blend about 16 oz of coffee, a TBS of coconut oil and a scoop of the chocolate protein powder. It gives me tons of energy and keeps me full until lunch. Plus it helps me reach my fat and protein for the day.

When I was on Atkins (for reference, I dropped 100+ lbs in 10 months), I drank a WPI shake every day I worked out and it helped so much with DOMS!

I highly recommend Syntrax Nectar Sweets. They taste great and are 0 carb.
