bloated abdomen

Occasionally when my UC is unhappy, I get really bloated in the abdomen. Like, I seriously look 4 or 5 months pregnant bloated. I've always assumed it was from inflammation. It goes away after a few hours or in a few days.
Does this happen to anyone else?

Yes! I am having that right now, I even feel uncomfortable like I was at the end of my pregnancy. Bloating along with crampy feeling too. My GI just prescribed some Bentyl (dicyclomine) for me. I am supposed to take it twice a day one in the morning and one at night. It made me so loopy last night, there is no way I can take it while I am working.0

Ya I do feel that way as well. I am also taking bentyl, and had to have it raised to 3x a day, as I was still having issues. So far so good now.0

I just started Bentyl, doesn't it make you tired? I am supposed to take it twice a day and boy the night dose is a comedy hour in my house. I kept asking my daughter if she saw the box I wanted her to hand to me, but just kept saying don't you see the box?0 -

Yes I do sometimes, not 4 or 5 lbs but maybe 2-3. sweatpants that i KNOW dont dig into my sides will dig in for a day or two, then all of the sudden one day ill just wake up and its back to normal. i drink the same exact amount of water everyday so i know its not that. i have a "J-Pouch" and have had it for 11 years, no flare ups. a little blood and this has been happening lately though. ive been looking into finding a G.I. doctor but anything I can do on my own to be alright?0

i just thought i'd put this out there for you guys. (UC dx'd in 1996.) I have dealt with this issue forever it seems. After doing some updated reading on the disease, I started using enzymes several times a day. I have used beano in the past, but I have a new favorite called Omega Zyme Ultra. The Omega is actually spelled with the greek symbol. I take it before I eat what I know will be a challenging meal for my body as well as at bed time. if i eat very small meals several times a day and take the enzymes, i do ALOT better with this.0
