after about 10kms i get numb toes on both feet (presumably because of my strike), then after about 25kms my feet go between feelng sore then numb.
i think this is just part of distance running, but i was wondering if there's anything i can do about this (apart from wearing supports in my shoes- they make it worse and i haven't the time to get used to them before my full on sunday).
what do you do?

This used to happen to me too. I don't know exactly why or how it stopped but it hasn't happened in about 12 weeks. The changes I've made are:

    - I am in marathon training so I run a lot more than I did before
    - I am wearing same shoes but I alternate them with 2 other pairs during the week
    - I lost about 10 pounds and am now 1/2 to goal.

I don't know if any of these things was the direct cure of the numbness. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Hopefully you'll be am to figure out how to cure yours.

Also: when my feet would get numb - I found loosening my laces, taking my shoes of and stretching my feet and retying my shoes a looser would help a bit. There were several races where I took off my shoes! It never cost me too much time and helped alot.

I had the same problem for a while. I ended up getting shoes that were wider in the toe box and haven't had the problem since then. I also lace them like this now:

(third method down, labeled "wide forefoot")

Makes the toe box even roomier and has helped me tremendously. Hope you find something that helps!

This used to happen to me frequently when I went over 4 or 5 miles. About a year ago I was told to buy my running shoes a half size bigger. I did and it hasn't happened to me one time since then. I still buy the same brand and model shoe, just bigger. Ran a 25k today in fact - no numb feet even after 15.7 miles!
