Still learning how to eat right baby step

I am still far from an ideal eater when it comes to my day. I have been steadily losing and getting close to or under my calorie goal but I know when I look at what I ate for the day I maybe had too much protein, bread, not enough dairy or veggies.

I was looking through the https://www.choosemyplate.gov site and their companion site, https://www.supertracker.usda.gov and they had some great sample meal plans on how to spread out the recommended servings throughout the day at my calorie level. A plan A, B and C with three meals and two snacks. I loved seeing that and since the sample plans don't say specifically what to eat I could use it as a framework to pick my own choices for grains, dairy protein and the like.

Maybe this site and those sample eating guidelines would help someone else. I know my winging it plan isn't going to work out in the long run if I get to the finish out today's entry and realize I ate only one fruit and had one and a half times the daily recommended grains intake...not to mention how far over the daily fat intake I go. Yikes!

Edited to fix a typo.
