I ran 3 miles!!!!

And it felt great!! I'm on week 7 and yesterday was supposed to be day 2.
I have my first 5K race on Saturday and I wanted to prove to myself I can run that far so I set off with the idea I would run for at least the 25mins and keep going as long as I could after that. I started Endomondo just before I started running after my warm-up walk as I always do and ran.
I kept going past 1mile, 2mile, the 25min mark feeling great! I usually stop running at the bottom on the hill to get to my house but decided to see how far up I could run and I ran almost to the top until Endomondo told me I'd run for 3 miles!! I did it in just under 35mins so averaging around 11.5minute miles!! I was shocked and over the moon!! And I'm certain I could have kept going if I wasnt running out of road to do my 5min cool down walk - must plan and EVEN longer route next time!!
So now my dilemma...do I continue with the C25K program as prescribed or do I consider myself a graduate if I manage to complete my 5K on Saturday running the whole thing???

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy for you!! Isn't it awesome!!
Yay!
As for your question...I ran 3 full miles twice last week during week 7...but stayed with the program nonetheless. I just run further than prescribed so when she says "Cool Down", I keep going.
Today was W7D3, and since running 3 miles was taking me about 40-45 minutes, I decided to stick with the program but up my speed and not aim for 3 miles, but see how far I could go in the 25 minutes. I did almost 2.65 miles....so that's not bad. Faster than the previous 3 mile runs....I think I"ll build on that.
With that said, I think you should do what you feel comfy doing.Reaching 3 miles in one run is just phenomenal!! And, you made awesome time too!

Well done you! Fab time for completing 3 miles.
As for your question, why dont you try week 9 this week- which is 30 minute and see how you do in that time?
Personally i would award you with the graduate status
Good Luck for Saturday, let us know how you do! Well done again!0
