I live in the SW metro and am a bit disappointed in the cost of Lifetime Fitness. Any reccomendations on a gym that's
good but doesnt cost me an arm and a leg?

Any LA Fitness locations near you? I pay $29/month to go to any LA Fitness- and if I go 12 times/month I get a $20 rebate from my health insurance. $9 per month is a great deal and I really like the gym too.
  • There is an LA Fitness near my office. Not a bad price either. I will check it out. Thanks!

Snap Fitness is inexpensive, but typically does not have shower facilities. Some locations have group fitness classes. My cost when I was a member was $30/mo.

Anytime Fitness has showers but typically no group classes. Have never been a member here, so not sure what they're fees are.

Fitness 19 is only $19/month but doesn't have shower facilities or group classes.

LA Fitness is inexpensive and the only one that offered showers, group fitness and a pool! My monthly cost there was $29/mo.

Obviously, none of the above have pools, either, but they're more affordable than Lifetime or the YMCA. Good luck!

If you don't take classes planet fitness is $10 per month, no contract

I second the votes for LA Fitness...the one I go to has been putting up signs on weekends advertising a $19.99 membership special, but I don't know what strings are attached.

I'd say LA Fitness is a nice place if you want the big gym, classes, locker rooms, etc. I belonged a few years back and I think I paid $37 a month. I'm a member of Lifetime right now and I pay $50 a month.

Oh and if you have a Gold's Gym or some are now called Xperience Fitness and you can get a membership between $10-20 depending on if you want classes or not.

I have that and if you go 12x a month your insurance (in most cases will pay for it) I pay $1.36 a month!!

I go to LA Fitness because of the location near my home. The price is reasonable

Planet Fitness is by far the cheapest gym in the Twin Cities and is clean with available machines. However, it offers a limited variety of equipment, no pools, racquetball court or running track.

Check Groupon, if you are willing to go to a place not super close you can usually get a great deal because they want to get new members. I got one back in august 24 group fitness classes for $24.
