3 weeks into reset... I feel I might of messed up.

I use to eat 1000 calories a day, if that.
I'm 3 weeks into my reset at 2350 calories.
I'm doing a 4 week reset maybe more because I love eating more!
The first week-
I worked out 4-5 days that week for about 60 min.
second week-
I worked out 1-2 times that week for 60 min
third week-
no workout and no motivation to workout. I've sat there just thinking of working out or got all dress in my workout clothes to just stand there and decide, nope, not today..
Pretty much I'm depressed. I've gained about 20lbs. I call them "healthy pounds" because I NEEDED to gain something. I went from 190lbs to 132lb and I looked sick. My problems is I don't want to gain more but if that's what my body is going to do I really have to let it. This is not just scale pounds either. My clothes are tight and I've been wearing leggins and yoga pants because I have no jeans that fit me.
My questions are...
Since I haven't been working out am I just messing up the whole reset?
Most days (since the middle of week 2) I'm still so hungry after having 2350 calories. Does this happen to everyone in the reset?
There has been days where I ate over 2350 by like 200-300 calories and didn't work them off... Does this mean I messed it all up.
Since my reset I've gotten depressed, tired (VERY TIRED), snappy, and I even have skipped out on family events because I have nothing to wear. I'm a nanny so at least I can wear sweats to work..
Please please help.

OK, first of all congrats on jumping in and going for a reset. It is vey hard mentally at times, frustratin and confusing, but it does get better:)
To answer your questions, No, you have not messed anything up by not working out for a week. Life happens. However if this is something that does continue over time, you will want to adjust your TDEE level to reflect your current activity level.
For most of us, it wasnt until well into week 3 or 4 where we stopped feeling so hungry. tThis is normal. It means your metabolism is revving up and is burning the enegy you are giving it. Lets face it, you have been starving your body for so long, that it is LOVING the extra cals and is signalling to you to keep feeding it.. It does taper off though. Concentrate on good proteins, lean meats, nuts, greek yogurt, etc to keep your cals nice and healthy.
And no, eating over your TDEE doesnt mess up reset. It can help it. Technically eating over reset means you will be storing actual fat calories.. so if you do eat over TDEE on a regular basis, the scale will probably go up a few extra pounds than neccessary. Again, life happens and we all overeat TDEE at times, just watch that it isnt a habit:)
Have you read the stickies and such? There is a starter kit you can purchase for $5 which has a lot of information in it to help you along. The information is all out there for free, but the starter kits puts it al together for you so you dont have to go searching. I believe there is a topic on the fact that at some point along the way we all hit a wall of sorts and got really tired and depressed. Again, part of the process, Your mnind hasnt quite caught up to your stomach, in a sense, so you see the scale go up and can get emotional from it. My advice would be to throw the scale away for a little while, take your measurements and just follow the course. If you arent already, give strength training a try, and ease up on cardio.
If you have to, buy yourself an outfit or two in your current size that you feel good in. forget about the fact its a bigger number. you want to feel good about yourself, and not worse.. and dressing the part makes a HUGE difference. I speak from experience on this one:)
I hope this helps. feel free to ask more if you need:) good luck!0 -
Thank you so much! That really helped me. I feel a lot better about all this. I was on the edge of giving up but I'll keep on going.
The 20 extra pounds has really made me feel depressed but I'll do what you said and buy a few outfits to make me feel better even if its a bigger size.
Thank you sooo much!! 0 -
I am feeling exactly the same way. I'm having a hard time eating all of the calories every day. Some days it is easy, other days not quite.
The depression part and the lethargy is very me right now. I'm at the gym 5x a week and will pick it up again and even go do more cardio as most of my workouts are weights or TRX and swimming.
Good luck!0 -
Have you recalculated your TDEE according to your current weight and activity level? That is a must for sure if not already done. Do your best to get in a casual walk just to lift your spirits, don't worry about time, speed, distance ...just do it for your well being. I'm sure this will turn around, love yourself and be patient. All the best to you!0

Youre welcome:)
Rhonda is right.. you need to recalculate your TDEE for your current weight. It should increase slightly.
Keep at it.. in time the depression and lethargy part vanishes. And hopefully you can find a few pieces of clothing to make you feel much better:)0
