Re: Afternoon Slump time - Bag of Frozen Vegetables

I started to reach a slump in the afternoon around 4 pm. I was hungry but knew that I would be eating dinner again about 730 pm with my son. I was afraid to eat a small meal because knew I would eat too much. So, I chose a bag of petite brussel sprouts that I had in the refrigerator. I had already cooked them a day before and put them in the refrigerator. I microwaved them and ate the 160 calorie bag all up!

There went my fiber, I was so full, and only 160 calories!

I am working at increasing my fiber as that makes you feel full. I am also working at putting more vegetables in my diet again as I got so sick of the ones that I was eating: red pepper, sugar snap peas, and cucumbers.

Brussel sprouts are warm and not cold like a salad. I highly suggest that you find a bag of frozen vegetables that you like and eat a half or whole for a snack - no more than 160 calories!

  • Great idea! I used to do that with edamami here at the center. Need to go back to doing that! Got tired of the carrots and hummus after a while. I love cucumbers and corn! (not together though unless in a salad :o)

    Michelle:

I find that you have to change your vegetables up. This morning - realizing that I have no more in the house so scrounged up what fruit I could find to put in my "lunch" or snack bag all day.
  • I had a bad turn after Thanksgiving...fell off the low carb wagon...will get back on and try frozen veggies as appetite suppressant.

Edamame is high in calories - 1 cup has 190 calories and 8 grams of fat.
