Anyone ever made paleo "biscuits" without using coconut flour? I made bacon and chive sweet potato biscuits last night but all I can taste is the coconut flour and I'm not diggin it at all.

i do find coconut flour overbearing , almond flour may work, and i heard there is cashew flour but I've never used that before.

I personally don't find it as strong but I'm also used to it. I used the two mixed together a lot and so far haven't noticed their flavor coming through much.

mabye got half and half coconut and almond. I used almond flour for a loaf the other day and it turned out great. i imagine the flavour would go pretty good with the potatoes and chives. fancy posting the recipe for us?
  • I made the PaleOMG biscuits linked to above and they were fantastic.

I used almond flour instead of coconut. It's not a 1:1 ratio to swap them, I would guess I used at least 1/2 c of almond flour. I just added a little at a time to get the consistency I thought was necessary for biscuits.

Almond flour is much milder in flavour and makes AMAZING baked goods but watch out if you're trying to lose weight, it is HIGHLY caloric and very high in omega-6.

Coconut flour only works for certain things.. I've tried it in all kinds of recipes but I like it best for cakes, muffins, or as a sub for corn bread. it is not good in savory dishes and doesn't really do well for cookies either. Almond flour may work ..it's is very good but tends to be crumbly.
