Backup plan for those who can't get a prescription

Background - I was hypo for 10 years, treated with synthroid to a 3.8 TSH and felt like crud basically the whole time. After learning about T3 vs T4, optimal levels, etc., I got a supplement off Amazon called Natural Sources Raw Thyroid. It's active whole desiccated thyroid tissue. It really helped me out.

HOWEVER, as a supplement, it does not contain proper dosage info so you are on your own for finding the right dose ( I was taking three a day). I finally just demanded my doc add some cytomel, and now I don't really need the supplement, although I have resumed taking one a day anyway - I figure getting my TSH a little lower can't hurt.

If, however, you can't get a scrip for whatever reason and don't mind messing around with the dosage, it might be worth your while to try it out.

They also have a raw adrenal product that can help with adrenal fatigue. Everything I have read on the subject suggests only taking it for a couple weeks at a time. That's what I did and it worked well for me.

Thanks for the recommendation- a couple weeks ago my doc denied my scrip refill right before I went out of town and I tried to look for a supplement as a temporary substitute, but couldn't find anything. I did read that many thyroid supplements do contain actual thyroid hormone, but I couldn't figure out which ones.
