8 week reset - done!

As some of you may know, I was having zero results eating the standard “1200″ calorie diet + exercise… for a long time. I decided to do a full metabolism reset by lifting heavy weights 3x a week and eating at my TDEE (2120) for 8 weeks. Results:
(drumroll)
Starting Weight: 167.2
10/15/12
Chest: 40
Waist: 31
Hips: 40
Upper Thigh: 25.5
Bicep: 13
Calf: 15.25
Neck: 13
Current Weight (I expected more!) 174.2
12/4/12
Chest: 39
Waist: 30
Hips: 40
Upper Thigh: 24.5
Bicep: 13
Calf: 15
Neck: 13
So, by my calculations the reset worked as I didn’t really change in size all that much after almost doubling my caloric intake. Pretty amazing! Also, had gotten smaller in more of my measurements, but took a week and a half off of working out before starting P90x yesterday… wanted to come in fresh. Also, took two days off of tracking before starting my cut phase. It’s amazing how quickly weight will come on if you don’t work out. The measurements were slightly smaller a couple of weeks ago before my "rest." Very pleased with the results and have changed my mindset from letting the scale decide my happiness level.
Now starting my "cut" phase!

That's wonderful! Congratulations! Total success!!
I am finishing my 8 week reset on Friday and then trying to decide if I want to do a 10% or 15% cut. I have gained *officially* only two lbs. during reset but I had gained a couple before I started just from increasing calories from 1200 in September to 1400 then 1600 (my TDEE is 1930).
I was having no results either from the 1200 calorie plan and even started gaining when I went just slightly above it last August! I am really looking forward to seeing how a modest cut works for me -- instead of going the starvation route again.0 -
Most of my "gain" I am SURE was the week and a half off, lol. Sounds like you got yours totally dialed! I had a hard time deciding between 10 and 15%, too. I would suggest 10 for you because you didn't gain a lot during reset. If 10 doesn't work push up to 15?0

That's awesome. I started my reset (8 weeks at least) on December 1st. I am 5'2 and 168 lbs currently. Can't wait to see the results.0

If you are doing a lifting program - you will love your results!0

For sure -- lifting while doing a reset is highly recommended. I'm sure my experience would have been less enjoyable if I hadn't been reshaping my body through weight lifting at the same time.
Can't wait to see some more of the muscle I've built as I let the fat layer melt off!0 -
I just started my cut this week too. I decided to start with 10%, figuring that leaves room to go down again if I need to. Are you ladies going to do a planned diet break? I was thinking the week of Christmas/ New Years might be a good opportunity to eat at TDEE for a week. I'm paranoid about my metabolism slowing down again!! Gotta keep it rolling...0
