Hey everyone :)

im completely new to strength training and want a full body workout 3x a week that i can do at my gym. I dont really want to go into the mens weight room (i know that sounds really silly as it shouldnt matter, but it just distracts me wayyy too much i get really self concious and just give up)

complete novice when it comes to this so details would be brill

Thanks!

It's difficult to do full body strength training without using the weight room as free weights really are the best way to strength train.

My gym has a small dumbbell area (aimed at 'girly' lifting) which I used initially but I soon needed to be lifting much heavier and had to venture into the 'mens' area.

I decided to start going to the gym when it was quietest, as first thing in the morning I would often have the weight room all to myself which gave me a chance to build my confidence in there. No one else bothers me and we are all there just getting on with our own workouts.

If you're nervous about starting out on your own it may be worth hiring a trainer for a few sessions just to get you on your feet and build your confidence in the weight room but otherwise just go in there with your head held high and work the iron!

we do have a womens only area of the gym (its like a small room with one of every machine in there and then some cardio machines) that too has a 'girlie' section with handweights. so do you think il be alright in there until i build up my confidence?

Yes that sounds a good starting place. Work on your form and getting used to the moves ( YouTube can be useful here) and then whn you've built your confidence and are ready to go heavier you'll be able to storm it into the big weight room ;)
