Something I never really thought about...

I have been doing strong lifts for about 8 weeks with a trainer and now I am doing the work outs on my own. This going to sound silly, but when I do my dead lifts how do I load the bar?
I got up to 145lbs on my dead lifts, but I have had help loading the bar and putting it on the ground by my trainer. I tried to load 135lbs with the bar on the part of the squat rack then place the bar on the ground and load the rest of the plates. I did it, but I think I pulled something doing it last night:-/
Here is the thing... I am short, like under 5 foot. So lifting the bar and inch or 2 to get it off the rack and then place it on the ground is extremely difficult.
Any tips are welcome.
Thanks!

I put the bar on the floor, lift one end with one hand and slide the first plate (45lb plate) on with the other hand. Repeat for other side. It's now off the floor with the largest plates on. The rest should just slide on.0

I either do this OR I use the power rack, set the hooks down on the lowest setting, and then lift it off there (so its really just a few inches).
Also there is a trick you can do once you are up to using more htan 1 set of big plates to load the second set on. Use a small weight like a 2.5 and roll the big plate onto it on iether side. Then use the extra inch and a half of clearance that gives you to slide the second plate on. Ditto for unloading.0 -
what tameko said
its hard at the beginning, but you will get better at this
my lifts are not heavy, but I have seen few guys peeking to learn the loading technique from me LOL
I can load and unload from the floor pretty smoothly right now. They struggle0
