I have a big problem preventing me from losing weight as fast as I would like too due to the lack of exercise. I got on the tread mill the other day and could only walk 6 minutes without my back and knees killing me! Can anyone relate?

I can. I have a bad back due to 2 car accidents i was in. That's why I prefer doing water related exercises. I've noticed that for me swimming lightly or walking in the shallow end of a pool doesn't cause the back/knee pain
  • Well I do have bad knees and bad feet..rough callouses on the balls of my feet...the podiatrist recommended surgery to realign the bones in my feet over 10 years ago but I am afraid that it would just make the problem more worse than it is...but there is no excuse. We can walk move our arms pain free...so from this day forward...I promise myself to do some type of movement. I bought all of the zumba dvds and only worked out for 1 month..just pitiful...the step by step dvd was not so bad...I encourage you all to try it.If you have to just do the introduction dvd for 4 months so be it...guarantee it will make you sweat and it is less intense on the knees, back and feet.
  • I would like to introduce my self. You can call me ferfer, wanted to join for support. I find it very hard to go to the gym to even walk on a treadmill. My husband called me lazy and I have to agree with him cause that is what it is. I have every intension to loose at least 60 pounds, but where do I start?

So from this point on I am going to give it my all, I am going to start with tossing the excuses aside and making myself start back up with the juicing and making the treadmill my best friend again.

    Happy Holidays'

Hi Ladies...I just wanted to say that I joined this group for the support. :) I understand having no idea where to start. I remember watching (yes, I said watching not doing) an exercise video and thinking that they were insane if they thought I was going to do a jumping jack. I have been exercising for well over a year now and every few months or so, I am bored and looking for something new. But, I agree you have to start somewhere. Even if it is just walking around your yard or block. I understand about the treadmill being painful, my joints really had to get used to it. I would definitely suggest Zumba, I do it on the wii and it much less intense. I think it's fun and really makes you sweat. There is lots of great excercise on youtube. There are lots of videos that much less impact, like walking at home or light aerobics (I recommend Denise Austin to start or the Befit channel on youtube). I have been using youtube for months and found it to be really helpful.

With all that said, I think it takes courage to even decide to make changes in your life. Just for making that decision everyone should be very proud of themselves!! :) As far as the exercise I think that as long as you are doing something you should be proud of your effort. It's okay if you have to start over and over and over again. :) (I know I did.)
