Does EM2WL only apply to certain type of woman?

Hi. I just wanted to know if the eating more to weigh less program only works for those looking to have a body like Jillian Michaels or something...

Is it only for those who exercise everyday or do strength training? Let's face it... not everyone exercises hard (my exercise of choice is walking because I hate going to the gym)

I'm just asking because not everyone here is looking to have a 'cut' or 'ripped' look... some people are fine with the 'skinny fat' look because they are simply looking to lose a lot of excess weight.

Will eating more to weigh less still work for someone who lives a fairly sedentary life doesn't do strength training and don't desire a 'cut' body?...

Given that you've met your weight loss goal, I'm not really sure of your motivation here, but it seems like you misunderstand the point of EM2WL. It's just about operating at a smaller deficit, which is more healthful, and prevents a lot of the frustration many people put themselves through when trying to lose weight.
  • Yes. If you have too low of a calorie intake and your body is responding negatively by conserving every last morsel you consume and not allowing you to lose weight any longer or if you have just been dieting for far too long without a break I think a reset is a great idea.

Even if you don't lift weights or desire a toned body. Everyone has different goals and that is okay. I want my insides to be as healthy as I want to look on the outside so I exercise in all different forms for both a toned appearance and healthy strong muscles and organs.

I was exercising like crazy before EM2WL and eating 1200 or less calories a day. For me that meant I was making a 50% cut from TDEE most of the time. I am still repairing the damage I did during that time and getting my body back to normal. Em2wl really does work with patience and consistancy. Even if you dont lift, as long as you do your reset at TDEE for a bit and then do a modest cut of about 15% you will lose weight.
  • You're right, I'm not trying to lose any weight. I was just curious about whether or not this program would work for those who live a sedentary life.

Yes it works for any lifestyle cause the reality is whether your sedentary moderate active or extremely active our bodies require nutrition and rest from all the hard work we do to it.Em2wl is about being able to have peace of mind not stress out about if you had a bad day cause face it it's going to happen in your journey. Em2wl is real it does work you have to really change your outlook on how you view weight loss and maintenance. I struggle for months long months trusting this process cause all i knew was 1200 calories, weight watchers, Slimfast name it i did it.When your given an opportunity to grow learn from it cause in the long run you'll see the rewards from it.As we age our bodies will lose a certain amount of muscle and if you are not active and don't challenge those muscles your body won't need them as much and they will shrink and you don't want that because less muscle mass equals a decline in your metabolism and risk of injury as we age due to lack of strength in our muscles from them not being challenge. At the end of the day muscles burn fat.

All EM2WL is, is a smaller caloric deficit. It is tailored to your current activity level but it is still a deficit so scientifically speaking it has to work if you have selected the correct activity level.

I agree with the other posters, EMTWL is just about eating at a smaller deficit.

While I am an avid lifter, I do find it out of place all the lifting threads and most preaching how lifting is the only way. It should really be in a separate group because it is independent of the EMTWL philosophy.
