Meal planning

So far I've got week one's meals planned out...I'm a little broke at the moment so doing minimal shopping and using mostly what I still have in the freezer. Gonna be cooking larger batches and eating leftovers so it spreads out over the week. Gotta do what you can
How is all of your meal planning going?? I find that it helps IMMENSELY to write out a weekly meal plan, then a grocery list so you can buy just what you need at the start of every week. Before I did that, I would end up getting a little too carried away; buying too many groceries, having things go bad etc. Any tips and tricks that you guys have are welcome as well!

In the past, I wasn't successful with staying with whole 30, I would shop almost daily! That was too much time in the store and led to temptations! I plan on shopping tomorrow, with about 1 weeks worth of menus in hand!0

I'm having a blast meal planning! I try to do one week at a time, and tackle it all during a big cooking day. I like to make my breakfast for the week, make one or two big meals that I can then alternate for lunch or dinner each day (cooking for 1, so it's really easy with all the leftovers!). I also try to make 1 or 2 "make ahead and freeze" meals for emergencies or if I don't have a taste for whys in the fridge. I'm also going to try to roast a pan of vegetables each week, and hard boil eggs for emergencies.
I'm also trying to find a balance between tried and true recipes that I know are easy, and new and adventurous recipes that I've always wanted to try. Will anyone else be experimenting?
Also, I was given a 10 pound turkey. It's in my freezer, but I don't know what I'm going to do with it! Any suggestions?0 -
This is my first time doing the Whole30. My biggest challenge is having a husband and 3 children to feed along with meal planning. They are picky eaters and I don't know how to meal plan for days on end.
I intend on cooking meats that the whole family will eat and hoping they like the new recipes I plan on trying. I will say, the Citrus Carnitas from Well Fed is super delish. My whole family loves it! A must try if you have not already.
If anyone has any ideas on how to meal plan, I am all ears. Around here, I make what sounds good and is convenient when I get home from work. It is a nasty habit I need to break!
I will share any great ideas and recipes as I get there. Good Luck to everyone.0 -
This is my first time doing Whole 30 after lots of reserach. Ive made a weekly meal plan that ill go through 4 times, as its easier than making 4 seperate ones for me. Its typically lots of egg, meat and vegetables, nuts and fruit to snack on. averaging 1600 calories a day, which seems low compared to all the food Ive got on my meal plan, but I guess as its all healthy its all low in calories! Ive also made a workout plan for the whole 30 days focusing on body weight moves such as push ups and squats.0

I meal plan for a week at a time. I have to make 2 different meals but I try to make it similar, as I just won't have some of the things my hubby and son eats. I will just do dinner as breakfast I am not a fan of and lunch is leftover from dinner or something simple, snacks veggies, fruit, etc
Sun: carnitas on lettuce "shells" with guacamole
Mon: chef salad with chicken and bacon ( yay for approved whole 30 bacon)
Tuesday: chuck roast with roasted veggies
Wednesday: veggie stir fry with pork tenderloin medallions
Thursday: fried cabbage with spicy sausage
Friday: butternut stew
Saturday: sweet potato chili fries ( by this time I do a carb load)
I then go day by day to figure out what I have and want is needed. For most of the meals my family will eat I just add there grainy stuff to the plate.0
