Right in the middle right now

Hi there! I am excited to see this group! I have already been doing her program the last 2 months and have lost 10 pounds. 3 pounds away from my goal weight. I would love to do it with you guys. Are you following all of the nutrition and supplements as well? Also, would it be a problem if I don't start out on week 1? If you want me to I can just sort of wanted to keep going where I am. I am starting week 7 next week.

  • Nice to meet you! It would be so nice for you to start whatever phase you are on! You would be a great motivator for everyone who is just starting the program to assure everyone it works. Congrats on your weight loss! I am planning to follow the meal plan. As far as the supplements go, I already put $ into some supplements. If I run out of them, I will follow the supplements on the plan. My supplements for now are: GNC Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard, BPI RoxyLean, and GNC Women's Ultra Mega Energy and Metabolism. Are you following the meal plan or supplements?

Congrats on being so close to your goal! 10lbs is a great achievement! :)

I'm not following the nutrition plan or supplements. I already eat pretty clean most of the time but eating so often just won't happen with my jobs. I'll tweak things during the program though, to be closer to her recommendations.

I won't be purchasing the recommended supplements due to lack of money mostly. I take a multivitamin, iron/b12/folate, vitamin C, and occasionally use a pre-workout supplement for those days when I need a little push. I wouldn't mind purchasing the BCAA's if I had the chance as I've been interested in trying them for some time now. I have some 100% Whey protein already but I have some GI issues and too much causes problems. I will add it to a smoothie occasionally but can't do it very often.

JulieCarlile- Congrats!! It makes me even more motivated to start!! Have you been eating at the 500 cal deficit MFP sets??

I may get the supplements cause I am running out....or get them seperatly. Vitacost.com has good prices on protein powders etc. I got Optimum Nutrition 100% whey $25 for a 2lb jug and I believe it says retail is like $50 or so!
  • So glad there will be lots of s doing it! I just finished a challenge with some friends and have been in a funk wanting some people that are doing the same things I am doing to talk to.

As far as the First round goes: I actually was still doing cardio everyday except on legs day. I had just completed my first marathon when I started it up and it was too hard to just quit entirely.

Supplements: All I take for supplements is a multi vitamin, glucosamine for my cartilage (My knees got hammered from running so much). I also take fish oil, and a protein shake after each work out. I really like this website and get the Chocolate Milk flavor. It is really good, and I mix it with soy milk or almond milk and sometimes add a banana to it. I also use their Amino Acid drink mix (Cherry Limeade) it is really good for recovery. And one of my favorite things from Musclepharm is the glutamine. My body doesn't get as sore if I mix this in before or after a work out. Here is the website and it is the cheapest I have found the Muscle Pharm brand.

I haven't really followed her meal plan, but also try to eat clean. I could do a lot better at it though, especially after Christmas. My calories are at 1400 for the day. I tried doing the 1200 that MFP told me to do but I was too cranky eating that little. I Still have had great success at losing the last bit of baby weight and have noticed a huge improvement in losing inches and gaining lean muscle. I LOVE this program. Hope you all will too!
  • I am new to this and not too sure what to do... Help!!
  • tballen- Don't worry you can totally do this. I am also pretty new to weight training. I started about 2 months ago. First of all go to the website that was listed in another post.

    http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/jamie-eason-livefit-trainer.html

You can click on "Get Started Now". When you get to the next screen there will be a portion where they want you to sign up, but right under that it says "No thanks, take me to livefit program" Just click on that and you will see the three different phases Click on phase 1. And then you will see week1, day1. Just click on that and it will walk you through what you should be doing. You also can click on the picture of each exercise and it will show you a video of proper form.

If I don't know where a machine is at the gym then I just ask someone who looks like they have been doing it for awhile or go ask someone who works there. You will get more comfortable with it all as you keep going.

Also, you may want to invest in a pair of gloves. I got some because I was getting so many blisters and calluses as I started lifting heavier weights.

Good luck. When are you all starting?
  • Oh I forgot to tell you that on each work out page it gives you an option to print out the work out. It will be under all the exercises.

I'm "officially" starting today, although I did the leg workout yesterday to try it out. It was great!

I'm a little nervous about some of the upper body moves, just because I had a bad injury in February and I'm scared to hurt anything again. I'm sure once I've gone through all the workouts I'll stop worrying.
  • Just take it easy if anything hurts. I did crossfit for a few days with a friend and my shoulder was really hurting. I did super low weights on shoulder days for the week and that seemed to help. Just don't over do it if you are injured.

I'm starting Tues. Going to start the new year with a new workout and follow it through!

I am going to try to follow the meal plan as closely as possible but I highly doubt I'll be eating turkey or chicken muffins! lol I may stick to greek yogurt for that!
  • I haven't tried them but my friend made them and didn't like them at all.
  • I have a question. I am planning on working out in the morning right when I get up. I am planning to do cardio for a half hour before I eat anything( I need to lose weight so I'm not giving up my cardio!) and I was thinking to have a protein shake with half a cup of oatmeal mixed into a drink before I do my weight training. Does this sound good? I know it wouldn't be beneficial to just do weight training without anything to eat and I'd rather get my workout in the AM before my day gets crazy. What do you ladies think?

    Hi there,

I'll be starting tomorrow. First phase :)
  • nmalek- I did cardio in the first phase too. Jamie actually recommends doing the cardio after your weight training. It burns more fat. She talks about it in her video for phase two. Also, you can do your protein shake before but they usually recommend. doing it within an hour after your work out and just having a banana or apple before you work out. I am not sure why, just what I have read from personal trainers and been advised from a friend that is really into eating right. Maybe we should do more research into that. Glad some of you are starting tomorrow. I think I will redo week 6 this week because I got a terrible sinus infection this week and didn't get my workout in for the last 3 days.

I just looked into the shake stuff and here is a great article on Livestrong. It really emphasizes the importance of an amino acid too. I posted a website that I get mine from. It is so good! I just drink it while I am working out and then more water after.

I think I am going to stick to the no cardio for 4 weeks. On Tues I am also going to do my 1 rep max so I know what 60% of my max weight is to start with!

I think I may eat some oatmeal for breakfast before I work out and then do the egg whites after my workout w/ my protein shake! I also think I am going to order the suppliment package advertised on the Live Fit Trainer site. I went to Vitacost.com (a very reasonable priced site I order from) and priced everything out and it would be about $25 more!

The ladies that are starting phase 1 tomorrow tell us how it goes!!
