I seriously hate taking a walk and people freak out about my dog. I wouldn't take a dog that is mean or not controllable out. I realize there has been a ton a fear mongering about pitties but there has been just as many amazing stories out there. Yet people are either scared to death of them or all for them.
Normally on a walk we get good comments, but today we had 2 different sets of people giving us that hate/scared to death look. GRRR it just irks me. You can have the best behaved dog and all the dogs around them are going nuts and they will still pick yours out to be the bad one. Just because ignorance.

This happens to me as well. I don't even bother calling out that my dog's friendly anymore... Cause anyone with half a brain could see with their own eyes that he's friendly and excited to see new people.
Pitbulls fight the same battle we fatties do. It only takes one dog with a bad temperament to make hundreds more look bad... It only takes one gross fat person who is lazy and doesn't care for themselves to make people assume that hundreds more are the same way.
Stereotyping is a real thing folks, whether we think we do it or not...0 -
When I had back surgery, I asked my mom and dad to take care of my pit bull during my month of recovery. They were both terrified at the thought of a pit in their house, but agreed to take her. Now, they both love her to death. She gives my mom "kisses" in the face every time she sees her. We still get the scared looks on walks, but I think understanding builds one person at a time. My happy pit has won over at least two people so that's two more on our side.
The thing that makes me angry is when other dogs are off leash and run over to my dog. We've been attacked by this same border collie mix twice already. He tried to bite me and my dog got in between to guard me. The other owner acted like I had an evil dog. Thankfully another person witnessed the attack and took up for my dog. Just makes me angry when they judge the breed and not the dog.0 -
I definately agree that opinions are changed one person at a time. Grunt goes to work with my daughter and husband most days and when he is not there people ask about him.
So one person at a time and I will continue to be as patient as I can.0
