What do you look for in a hike?

What do you look for when you decide where to go hiking? Is it the views? The plant and animal life? The level of the challenge?
I like to hike trails that include streams or ponds for swimming. I also enjoy seeing archaeological sites and being able to pick fruit from wild trees.

I am an unashamed photography *kitten*, I just can't get enough of the views!!! I love hikes with big panaromic peak options photos like this one at Crowders Mountain last fall
and I am a sucker for waterfalls. I have yet to hike to where a 'real' water fall is. This one at Chimney Rock was still a blast. I had so much fun taking my shoes off and abandoning my poor boyfriend to go play in the water. We met a little non venomous snake here too, just getting a bath. It was a great chance to educate the hikers who were afraid of him.
It was much more friendly then the rattle snake we about stepped on at crowders!0
