Good Morning Everyone!
How is everyone today? What are your plans for the week-end? And what are your plans for this week end to keep on track with this challenge? To answer those questions myself....I am doing great! No plans for the week-end out of the ordinary...I will not go over my daily goal calories and I will go to the gym today and do a fast pace walk on the treadmill, tomorrow will do a run on the treadmill and some abd. execises. Nothing exciting here!
littlewhittle brought this to our attention on the planks...and I had known this and forgot to bring it up until now. Some of you have said that your wrists are too weak to do the plank or your body weight is too much on the wrists....a better form that gives you more benefits is using the forearms to hold you and not the wrists. Let's do the plank in this form. Thanks littlewhittle for your reply.
I see I forgot to put a title in the Subject area yesterday. Looked a little incomplete!
"This Isn't a Dress Rehearsal"
"When you preform....you are out of yourself
larger and more potent, more beautiful. You are for minutes heroic. This is power. This is glory on earth. And it is yours, nightly." Agnes De Mille
"You've probably heard the expression "life's not a dress rehearsal." Unfortunately, many of us unconsciously act as if it were. Like an actress just going through the motions in order to conserve her creatvie energy and focus for opening night, we hold back. Perhaps you save the pretty china for when company comes; prehaps you're like me and rarely dress up when you're home alone. If we're not playing to an audience, does it really matter?"
"That's a good question to ask ourselves as the New Year begins and we examine the quality of our life journey. It does take more effort to set an inviting table, but it enhances our enjoyment of eating. We all feel better when we take those few extra minutes to fix our hair and put on make-up, but what's more, we act different. Every actress knows the magic power of props and costumes to create special moods both onstage and off."
"None of us can be expected to preform every minute of our lives." But a lot of us might tap into the power, excitement, and glory of Real Life more frequently if we cast ourselves as the leading ladies in our own lives." Sarah Ban Breathnach
"You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else." Albert Einstein
Have a great day!!

You're welcome! I have weak wrists from tendonitis, so I always do forearm planks.
I love the post today. I don't put on makeup much, or dress up. I groom dogs for a living, so getting fancy for work doesn't make any sense, I just look wrecked by the end of the day anyway. But I think I try to look put together outside of work.
This actually reminds me of a debate I was having on Facebook last night. I was out at a bar for a friend's birthday, and someone showed up in baggy old sweatpants. I think this, and pajama pants, look so sloppy! I said as much on my Facebook, and one friend said she loved going out in sweats. I'm sort of appalled by this, but she said she uses it as a "guy deterrent." Well, I think it would work! Not that anyone should dress up just for male attention in a bar (unless they are looking for it), but presenting yourself as a slob makes a certain impression, imho. I didn't look fancy by any means, but a nice top and fitted jeans I think are way more pulled together.0 -
I am the opposite of you, littlewhittle (LOVE your new pic!). I wear a suit to work every day and do my hair and put on makeup (I draw the line at pantyhose, though). I usually wear sweats or yoga pants in the evenings and on weekends. Since my 15 year old daughter has been threatening to nominate me for "What Not To Wear" I have bought jeans that were made since I graduated college, tops that are not made of t-shirt or sweatshirt material and shoes that are casual, but not athletic. My daughter always gives her opinion on whether or not I should wear an outfit in public.
My husband and I are going to see the movie, Hitchcock, tonight. Today was going to be a rest day, but I want to have popcorn and Junior Mints at the movies, so I took a walk to earn those calories. The only other goal this weekend is to get to the supplement store and look at protein supplements. I am trying to eat 123 grams of protein and it is HARD for me to meet that goal. I see my friends' diarys and they all seem to supplement with some type of protein powder or bars. I have one protein shake a day, but don't want to have to drink two. So, I am looking for other alternatives.
I ordered New Rules of Weight Lifting for Women and it should arrive today!!!0 -
Since I usually work at night, I do not put on make up and early in the morning (5 am) I am simply not capabel without sticking my eyes out. But I only wear sweatpants every now and then in the weekends and during house work.
My husband does not get it. as soon as he gets home he is out of his jeans and in sweats. It is rather driving me nuts. Yes, me and the dog are the only ones around, but would it hurt, to look at least like he making some effort?
Oh and btw, I would not go into a bar and wear sweatpants either!
Plans for the weekends: I think I will go for some very light training to the gym tomorrow, but other than that, just getting mentally ready to go back to work after what seems like a month vacation:ohwell:0 -
I have to say I like my sweatpants on the weekends. I did wear them to go to the gym this am, but when I got home I decided that I needed to take a shower and get dressed for the day. I would not wear them to a bar or to go hang out with friends.0

Really enjoyed your replies!!
I always put on make-up and do something presentable to my hair in the mornings whether or not I will just be here at home or out-and-around doing errands or shopping.
I do wear work-out sweats here at home but they are not baggie and if I need to just run in and mail a letter real quick I will wear them. I recently bought my first pair of tight, straight leg jeans, now that I don't need to wear a corset or a body shaper. I want to buy a couple more pairs then I plan to wear them daily except, of course, when I go to the gym. I do feel better if I am presentable even if it is here at home. I do love to dress up but that happens once a week for church.
jbnl1991: I am excited for you that you are getting the NROL4W! It has great information in it and lots of exercises, and a laid out daily program.
I would not reach my protein goal if I did not implement my protein shakes and bars. I don't know if you have ever checked my food diary but if you did or do you will see a variety of shakes and they all are very good! The trick is to add 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, your protein powder, 2 packets of stevia sweetner, 1/2 to 1 cup of water, then any flavor you want, add fruits, flavorings, and ice if you like the shakes thick. Of course, use a blender!
I have heard that these bars are wonderful here is the URL for them.

And I have also heard Quest Bars are also good....meaning good in the nutients and low in sugars. The Quest Bars you can order through Amazon.com0 -
So I live in yoga pants all week/weekend long, unless I'm going somewhere. I stay home, so after I workout, I shower and put on new comfy clothes. I get dressed up if I'm leaving to go anywhere. Some make-up and hair done. If I'm just here, I like to be comfy. I guess I'd put on regular clothes and makeup if my hubby ever said he didn't like it, but he's alright with it. He knows how much I hate seeing people out in the pjs and stuff, so I'm not that bad.lol. Can't even imagine going out to a bar/resturant like that.
@jbnl1991- I use to do the same thing to my mom.lol.and now my girls do it to me. When I cleaned out my closet last weekend my oldest was the most spoken on what I should keep. She told me some stuff looked like something a teenager would wear.lol. Guess I'm getting too old for some stuff! I also wear alot of hoodies and athletic shoes, but it's cold at their sporting events. At least that's how I rationalize wearing them. And as far as protein, shakes are good but I get not wanting to drink 2 a day. My hubby started making protein bars but when we do buy them, we usually get premier bars at costco(they're sold other places too). They have 30g a bar and are goood. Greek yogurt is a good way too. I make mine like a dessert, which prob doesn't help, but I figure it's better than ice cream or something. Alot of time I make my shake like a dessert too. Sugar free jello and a fruit of your choice can make it super good.
My plans this weekend: Attended my daughters first basketball tournament today. Had such a good time watching her play. Hubby is home too, so it was nice he could see her play. Her games went a little late so we missed the fundraiser for my uncle at a local resturant. He was killed 2yrs ago today in the line of duty. He was passionate about sports and all kids having new backpacks and supplies when they started school, so the community still raises money for those charities. Tomorrow going to just hang out with my family until my hubby leaves in the afternoon.
Hope everyone has a good weekend!!0 -
Liane is correct...I forgot to add that for some of my flavorings for my shakes are a couple of tablespoons of Fat Free Sugar Free Jell-o pudding dry mix. There are quite a few yummy flavors.
I also use for my protein the Greek yogurt Chobani Nonfat Plain Yogurt. I use 1/2 c up of it and mix in 1/2 cup or so of strawberries (thawed out frozen ones even) and 2 packets of Steveia Sweetner. Tastes like a dessert!0 -

Thank you! I think if I dressed up everyday, I'd be the same. And I'm all about pjs when home. But when going out, I have to at least have real pants, lol.0 -

My boyfriend's mom actually says one of the reasons she divorced his dad is because he wore overalls (he was a farmer) all of the time. He put no effort in, and she couldn't stand it.
And THANK YOU for not wearing sweats at the bar, lol.0 -

The gym is a totally acceptable place for sweats. Or at home. Not public.0
