Anyone know if its ok to use whey protein powder while you're pregnant? I'm having a hard time getting enough protein and wanted to maybe add in a protein shake, just don't know if this is a good idea....

My doctor told me it's fine. I usually try to have one a day. I use 2 scoops of Cytosport Monster Mass (Chocolate flavor), add 2 tbs of peanut butter & blend it with water and ice (500 calories and 33 grams of protein).

The recommended amount is 4 scoops of the Monster Mass but I find that it's too rough on my stomach, so I cut it in half.

Yup, should be just fine. I've used it periodically to help fill in protein deficiencies.

Ditto. All the research I did showed that while certain protein powders are not good during pregnancy, whey protein powder (which is what I use) is fine.

Yep, I use it on days that I lift to boost my protein intake.

Thanks! Good to know! I had a protein shake daily before getting pregnant, but stopped because I wasn't sure if it was ok. There are so many foods out there that you would think are safe then come to find out you shouldn't be eating. I would rather be safe than sorry. This is good news though!
