Shin Splints

I have been doing 2 miles on the treadmill 5-7 days a week for about 2 years now. I alternate walking and jogging. I upped my mileage to 2.10 miles and jogged a little more on Monday and now I have shin splints. I so don't want to stop excersing because then I really have to cut back on what I eat. My splurge meal is dinner.
I am hoping they feel better tomorrow and I will walk at 2.0 mph instead of 3.3
Anybody have any advice on shin splints.

I used to get these a ton in high school. They always said to increase calcium and make sure to stretch before and after workout.
Hope they're better.
I tend to get charley horses more then anything.0
