Are you this sensitive?

I was wondering if anyone else is as sensitive as I have recently become. My sensitivity started when we had a city wide cryptosporidium outbreak from contanimated water supply. It was like I never got better. Had gas, painful cramping, and diarrhea on and off. Went to tons of specialists and they thought maybe IBS. But after tracking my food and symptoms I figured that it was milk products. At first just milk and ice cream bothered me. Then slowly more cheeses and other products. For the last 16 years I could pretty much get away with eating these things as long as I took lactaid. Now suddenly, the lactaid doesn't work and I can no longer tolerate anything with even a trace of dairy, or chemicals derived from dairy. It is very frustrating to find anything to eat that doesn't make me sick. The sudden change also makes me wonder if there is something else wrong besides a dairy allergy. I mentioned it to my doctor a few weeks ago but he didn't seem to think it was a big deal.

I think you are mixing up lactose intolerance and having a dairy allergy. If it was just LI, you would be able to get away with the lactaid. If you have a true allergy to it though, you'd have to cut out dairy altogether to stop the digestive issues you are having. Try cutting out dairy for a few days and see if you feel better

An lactose intolerant and I have all the symptoms you mention. I also have a gluten intolerance. It is often, that these two go hand in hand. It will pay off for you if you are strict with your diet and cut all dairy. there are many substitutions. If I happen to eat dairy on accident/restaurants like to put butter on everything...I take lactiad and charcoal tablet to help with the gas and bloating

I agree with lamby284 it may be an allergy to the protein in dairy. And the easiest way to know is eliminate dairy all together.

Physicians are not the experts on nutrition. They have very little training in nutrition, it is mostly what they take on themselves to learn.

You may want to talk with a Dietitians or nutritionist.
